So what would be considered an acceptable season in 2014

I don't know to be honest. We won 6 games last year. Acceptable would be 6-10 with a best case scenerio as 8-8 and no better. I am mainly looking for the young players to progress, players buy into Gruden's system and for us to stay healthy.

Acceptable? 8-8 and that barely makes it. We play in the worst division in the NFL. We should have 3-4 wins in our division. I'm actually fairly optimistic about our team. I think we have to potential to surprise a lot of people this year. Our offense should be explosive. The question is did our defense improve? I'm not sure yet. While we added a bunch in FA, only Hatcher can be considered a sure bet. The rest have question marks. But the big unknown is Gruden and the coaching staff. Is he the next Gibbs or the next Zorn?

I thought we won 3 but maybe I was drunk.
No reason to think 8-8 isn't normal to expect from this crew as I'm not a dooms day prepper kind of guy. We can talk and argue all day about pick 34 and ILB & RT but it hinges on a healthy and refocused Griffin and a special teams unit that doesn't suck at epic levels!

hoping for 8-8, that or any more than that will make me very happy.
7-9, cant be happy about a losing team but its also a big jump from 3-13 so that would be acceptable.
6-10 or worse, no fan of any team can be satisfied with that. (even coming from a skins and lions fan)

So what record has our defense actually broken? It's not even the worth in the league today...let alone history.

prior to the draft 7-8 wins

what we are forgetting is a new HC , new coaches , new scheme .

we signed 16 FA's . some will fail miserably

no one knows about our health and if the back-ups are ready for prime time

fact is we we went 0-6 in the "weak " division last season

we have several holes that wont get fixed

last season we had an awful defense and we still have a lot of age there . we have virtually the same secondary that stunk last season and we havent found an answer at ILB

we have a DC who has been historically mundane

on offense we seem to have some very good skill guys except

the o/line is an issue and right now we have 2 new faces to work in and a mediocre right side and a qb with durability issues and is a year behind in his development in the mental aspect of the game who is now learning a new offense

special teams are unproven

we were 3-13 for a reason and we might have fixed about 1/3 of it

i expect next season we will know more about our depth and will have a decent amount of cash for fa and a full compliment of draft picks

but right now we will hover around 500

I am mostly going to agree with that. I am not going to assign a number. We have a new coach which means a new system. A successful year sees a healthy Griffin who plays better and has many more weapons. A successful year sees a much better defense (now that Shanahan is not here to interfere) :rollseyes: A successful year sees an improved ST which shouldn't be hard to improve upon and should happen since the team had cap space to sign quality people to play STs this year.

More than anything a successful year doesn't have the dysfunction this team has been known for since Snyder has owned it.

Ah yes - the joy of being a Redskins fan. Some day - hopefully starting now - they get this turned around so that we don't always expect the worst & can be very proud of this team.

I hear ya about the temporary anger. I grew up in the DC area yet have not lived there for a very long time yet I still root for all of the DC teams (except for the Nats). I have very little to show for it & it is quite often frustrating. Oh well - I must be a glutton for punishment. HTTR

7-9 would be acceptable to me. Lot of new parts going into this season. I can see this year be the team jelling together and learning the system and next year we make the playoffs.
