Redskins agreed to terms with WR DeSean Jackson, formerly of the Eagles, on a three-year contract.
The Redskins have just $6.5 million in salary-cap space, so the majority of Jackson's 2014 earnings should come in the form of a signing bonus. He's highly unlikely to match or eclipse the $10.7 million he was scheduled to earn from the Eagles. From a fantasy standpoint, it's a mixed landing spot. D-Jax will have a play-making quarterback in Robert Griffin III, but has to contend with another No. 1 receiver in Pierre Garcon. Jackson isn't going to come anywhere close to the 82/1,332/9 line he posted in 2013, and won't be a lock for 1,000 yards. For the Redskins, however, it's a coup for a team that hurt for weapons outside of Garcon and Jordan Reed last season. Jay Gruden's offense just got a whole lot better.
Nice pick-up for you guy's … I"m thinking you guy's lock him up in your slot because he's got great speed but lacks height on the outside… Nice punt returner also..
$8M/year average for a top WR is overspending? Assuming there are contract clauses that give the team an out for off the field issues, this is a deal. We now have one of the most explosive offenses in the league. You want to help a suspect defense? Have a good offense. We can score quickly. We can grind it out. We can pick you apart with TEs and slot receivers over the middle. We have a QB that can extend plays or pick up 1st downs with his feet or his arm. RG3 has no excuses this year.
8 mil isn't really overpaying. He's better than Decker IMO and got just a little more. The guaranteed money is more than I like but it really depends on how much is a signing bonus and if there is an out for poor behavior.
RG3 still has an excuse...it's his first year in a new offense.
