Calm down little fella, no reason to always come in hot, guns a blazin' like you seem to do.

When was the last time you spent a weekend in downtown Detroit for a home game? It's a fuckin' riot and the D is rapidly improving. It's not the same city it was 15 years ago at all...

Criticism of my posts coming from you T-Paul? How many hostile argumentitive asshole posts have I read from you with several people over the years? Probably hundreds. Thanks for the tip though, I'll keep it in mind.

As for Detroit, between Lions, Tigers, and Wings games I've done that dance a hundred times at least. I love the immediate area right near the stadium with Hockeytown, Cheli's the Casino's and of course Bazooki's. It's pretty cool. That being said how many people do their tailgating amongst so many abondoned, burned out, falling down, houses and buildings? I've been to games in 5 different states, never seen that anywhere else. I really do love Michigan but the truth is you're not going to be able to use Detroit as a selling point with most people, not if you compare it to Tampa, Miami, or San Diego. Lets just be real.

Also I visited last Christmas...drove through, it looked the same as it did when I left 7 years ago. (worse actually).

My Grandmother was the biggest sports fan I've ever known. She would constantly discuss whatever sport that was currently in season. I didn't see her often from year to year but Thanksgiving was always a constant. She was a Lions fan or at least supported them entirely. 100 years later, I still scream at every bad play call, refs call, or phone call during the game.

Barry Sanders was also pretty persuasive.
Much props to that. Most of us were born into it like a curse. I tried really hard to like the Tampa Bay Bucs(I live there)....just cant seem to give a shit. I like your style LP and Grams too.

St. Louis refused to overpay the aging superstar on the downslide...which turned out to be exactly the right move.

They didnt blow it they nailed it. It's never about 1 guy, its about the team.

That's not what happened at all (or at least what leaked since the negotiations are always private). What they did was offer 5 years at less than $20MM per and no guarantees after baseball. He got 10 and $240MM and a front-office guarantee. Pujols' wife has since said that they really just wanted to be sure there was a role for Albert with the team after he was done, and they wanted to feel wanted in return and respected. They would have taken fewer years and less money if they had felt that the team wanted him there, but the team made a single offer so far below that of the other teams that they may as well not have made an offer at all.

I think they could have gotten him for 5-6 years, $100-$120MM, which would have been good for both sides, if they had a front-office job waiting for him. He sure would have been handy the last 2 years when the first basemen were struggling.

Make him VP of hand shaking and picture taking, but listen on baseball issues and personnel decisions, like the Blues did with Brett Hull (he has the box next to ours and is an extremely gracious and pleasant guy).

So 5-6 years at 100-120. Thats 20 million a year...for a guy who is in serious regression. He is a shell of his former self and getting worse having career worst years back to back, fighting off injuries, and the Angels have him for 7more years. Also I just read the final offer that St. Louis gave him was over 200 million. Do you really want a 41year old Pujols making 30 million on your team? No way. The Cardinals spent the money on Molina, Beltran, Craig and Wainright and won back to back division titles. Albert Pujols era becoming distant memory for St. Louis | MLB | Sporting News

Report: Ndamukong Suh wants to sign with Seahawks

Not sure how accurate, as it came from BR. I could see Suh wanting to play there. Just not sure how much money they'll have left after paying Wilson and Lynch. But, teams always find a way to make thing s happen if they really want it to.

Could also just be smoke to help Suh get a larger contract to keep him out of Seattle.

Seattle puts Suh closer to his roots (Portland)... it might not come down to $$$ for the Hawks.

If that defense wasn't already fun to watch.....I want Suh in Detroit, but if he's gonna leave sure hope it's Seattle...Kinda get the feeling like he would take a team friendly contract....He would get his money but not bend them over a barrel.

I just don't see any scenario where this regime doesn't tag him (if they can't sign him). Their window is closing, they know it. They'd rather tag him and risk it all trying to win a Super Bowl next year than let him go looking to build the team long term, I'm sure of it.

100% that Suh is a Lion next year, even if it means the tag. One year window for this regime. If they lose Suh and their jobs missing the playoffs they won't care about saving money now.

Sudden direction swerve. Bye-bye Suh, me want Ngata at $10MM per and $17MM to sign other players (Revis and a $4MM OG). He's no Suh, but he's a monster that is in the next tier (Suh being in a tier by himself). If the Ravens are crazy enough to do this, someone just needs to quietly let his agent know there are plenty of teams who want him. 3 years, $30MM, $9MM signing bonus, salaries of $5MM, $8MM, $8MM.

Ngata is on the wrong side of 30 and coming off a 4 game suspension for PED's. Not sure he's Lion material, similar to Greg Hardy.

I still say the Lions have zero shot at Revis without Suh. No Suh, the Lions are not playoff favorites. Revis will go to a contender (most likely staying w the Pats).

I still don't think the tag is in play. Think of it this way, LewanDUI has said its very likely a deal will be in place within the next few weeks. Obviously that has to mean the two sides are talking. If they don't get a deal done they aren't going to and they will let him test FA. There may very well be a deal between them such that he will give the Lions a chance to match. If that happens a good GM will make it impossible for the Lions to match the specific terms and force us to try and rewrite the structure to match. LewAAnd isn't smart enough to know how and make it better. especially if its a west coast team (Raiders) closer to his home.

I think the tag is in play because this regime is on a year to year leash by Ford Jr. If they screw up and lose Suh, then miss the playoffs they're all fired. So if they can't sign Suh now, they'll tag him and stay eternally optimistic that they can win the SB, or at least keep their jobs for one more year by making the post season.

There's really zero upside to just letting him go. There's no guarantee they can sign big name FAs without him.

LewAAnd and Mayhew have their minds made up. The Lions are built around 3 guys and their cool w that idea. If they have to tag Suh to keep it that way, that's what it appears they're prepared to do.

LewAAnd and Mayhew have their minds made up.

If they have to tag Suh to keep it that way, that's what it appears they're prepared to do.

I have seen absolutely nothing to indicate any of this to be true. The Ford's have never held anyone to a short lease. They kept both of them already when they should have been gone. They hired a new coach that, despite offering nothing of value took the team to the playoffs, and they will sell the Suh lose by telling ownership he flat out wouldn't resign despite them making a great offer.

Lewand is saying it's very likely they will get a deal done. If that doesn't happen then they aren't going to get one done unless it's a match offer, which can only happen after he tests the FA market. Short of Millenhew saying all options were on the table, including the tag, there is absolutely nothing indicating they are preparing to tag him and that flies completely contrary to LewAAnd's comments.

Via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the Lions and Suh have yet to commence talks aimed at extending his stay.

This is exactly why you can't trust anything our front office asshats ever have to say. The guy who would actually be handling the bulk of the negotiating is stating publicly that there is a very good chance of getting a deal done in the next few weeks but it's being reported that the two sides aren't even talking? Maybe the author of that article isn't truly in the know but there certainly isn't any evidence to discredit what he says any more so than to credit LewanDUI's as having any substance.

They were held to a short leash last year, playoffs or bust. No reason this year should be any different. Plus they keep saying the tag is in play. Plus they talk about the 3 man nucleus.

I guess it's all a difference of perspective. I see mounds of evidence that the tag will be used if a deal can't be done.

I don't recall anything ever being said publicly that it was playoffs or bust. That may be the assumption but if it was in fact a directive and mandate to continued employment I'm not sure how I missed it.

Saying the tag option is a possibility appeases the fans and can't possibly hurt their negotiating position. So you say it publicly even if it's not. That is not evidence IMO, and from these two clowns it should be discredited altogether.

I do agree that it's a matter of perspective. I have yet to read even one story where the authors didn't mention the tag option and then go on to say they were skeptical if that really was an option for the team.

You need only wait another couple weeks for the cap increase to be announced and to see who they start cutting. Tag has to be placed by March 2 I believe. Cap increase announcement came late Feb last year. It by itself won't be enough to cover his cap hit

You say the tag is in play when it's in play, not to appease a fan base by saying its in play then not using it, making you look like a liar.

"It's a year of let's go right now," Lewand said Monday night while appearing with WDIV's Bernie Smilovitz in the TAP restaurant at the MGM casino in Detroit. "You heard Jim say it during his introductory press conference, we hear it from our players.

"There's no five-year plans here."

- Tom Lewand prior to 2014 season

No way Suh gets away.

I hate thinking of Suh as "Samson the Lions Killer" but I also hate the thought of using the Franchise Tag on Suh if he doesn't want to stay in Detroit.
