Neither are the GOAT at their position, and very likely that neither ever will be. However, 2 of the best of this generation, and they both deserve a ring. Not gonna get one on their current teams.

I agree. Both are guys that could be in the conservation for GOAT at their position in a few years, though, but a lack of playoff success is going to hurt their legacy, imo

Im not that crazy about CJ climbing the ladder to catch Barry and Marino. Fine with Peterson doing it though.

The Vikings weren't that crappy as the Lions have been....Remember they did make an NFC title game and I believe made it 2 more times w/him. Right now they just need a proven QB and better WR's. The rest of their team is pretty good

Hard to say really if it will hurt their legacy. It is different for a QB where rings are almost a must outside of Marino.

Unfortunately they play at positions that depend on other positions doing well to succeed as a team. Both will go down as greats at their position. Always stinks to see such great players have to dwell on such horrible teams.

In a couple of years, they will both have a good enough regular season resume. Megatron doesn't really have a lot of competition.

Peterson will be regarded as the best running back of his era. Megatron might have a harder time sealing his legacy because he is stuck in Detroit but his career will be a lot longer.

The bar is very high. The new normal of huge passing marks will help CJ. (Already has.). But Rice is on a whole other plain. Id be happy if he legitamately could be ahead of Moss when all is said and done. Peterson's had one monster season, (One other verrry good one)unless he goes for 2000 again(The bookend seasons to that one only totaled 130 more yards.) I don't see him getting over the handful of guys at the top. (He's 27th in yardage). Getting to 5th or 6th seems about max to me. And that isn't GOAT worthy to me. Plus, were talking about guys because they haven't win titles. Titles don't hurt when it comes to being GOAT.

This is my reasoning as to why he won't reach the majority of Jerry's records. He's already shown signs of being beat up the last two years. If Detroit can't get another star at wideout to take some pressure off of CJ having to be "the man", then his career will be shortened.

He is the go-to guy in the passing game and he can't keep having to jump or catch the ball with 2-3 defenders around him.
