49ers fans collect $8K to put up billboard in Seattle

Maybe we should respond back with the only facts that really matter between us:

Since joining the NFC West in 2002
The Seahawks have,
Won 92 regular season games
Won the Division 5 times
Made the playoffs 7 times, with 6 wins and 1 Super Bowl Loss
And are 13-10 vs. the 49ers

The 49ers have,
Won 80 regular season games
Won the Division 3 times
Made the playoffs 3 times, with 4 wins and 1 Super Bowl Loss
And are 10-13 vs. the Seahawks

It is funny that Seattle fans pay to show our fan pride while they pay to bring up ancient history. We bring up how our fans don't need emails and hand outs to tell us how to act and when to do it and they talk about trophies the last of which they won almost 20 years ago.

Why would any Seattle fan find that to be anything other than funny and a sign of just how far their once proud program has fallen?

This was inspired by the Levi's Stadium Brick buying and 12th man Banner flying Seahawk fans this year. And a portion of the money raised is going to the Seattle children's Hospital, so thats cool. I do think the Billboard is extremely tacky however and am embarrassed by it honestly.

I agree totally on this. Seattle fans did stir the pot so it isn't a big deal that the SF fans respond.

As already stated, the billboard will probably be tagged so much that it will be unreadable.

Of the 8600 some bucks, 1000 goes to the Sattle Children's Hospital. If the people who own the billboard had any respect, it would be a much higher percentage of donation.

I have no problem with it. I think it is pretty cool the rivalry has reached the point where the opposing fan bases do such things to each other. If you ask me it is fun. As much as I dislike the 49ers and their fans stuff like this makes the games a bit more interesting.

As we already discussed with shaver when he brought it up you won't find where I've ever said Seattle is going to win a super bowl this year. I've very clearly said all their run has done is put them in the best chance they have to get there. Outside of that it hasn't meant a thing. HFA is a great goal in the regular season and every team should shoot for it, but it is far from a lock to take you to the SB and damn sure doesn't mean you will win that final game.

How did this tread come to be? Seattle fans bought a banner that flew over candlestick when our team played there last that had 12's go hawks on it. That's it. Didn't rub anything in their noses about past scores or prior achievements. Just about the 12's. Their response was to bring up trophies from 20+ years ago. Entirely different situation to a duck nation that is so full of themselves despite not doing anything to have earned it.

But sure, you hold on to what we say up here and try to find the same humility. That would be refreshing from a duck. Entirely unexpected and refreshing.

According to sports radio 950 there is currently no contract in place with the SF fans and clear channel outdoor. Clear channel is their parent company and as of 5pm tonight they confirmed there is nothing in place with any of their boards and they own the one that was said to be where that was going up.

I'll be real interested to see if they actually get a company to put one up and if it is out of reach enough to prevent vandalism. I'd personally drive to hilltop and load my rig up with as many street thugs as I could jam in my SUV and take them there just to watch them go to work. I think that would be hilarious.

You guys have a great rivalry. There's truly nothing better. Just remember that there are "good guys" and "idiots" in every fan base. I literally argued Ryan/Flacco for several years with a Falcons fan for several years on a different board. Last year, we finally set aside crap and had some great discussions. This year, I found out that he had cancer and passed away. I miss him and his insight. Every fan base has true, knowledgeable fans.
