I know they are young and the process is early but I'd rather have then not commit and check things out rather than committing and questioning later.

NORMAN – Vontre McQuinnie, a three-star safety who signed with Oklahoma last February but never made it to Norman this summer, won’t be arriving anytime soon apparently.


OU spokesman Pete Moris confirmed to the Tulsa World Wednesday that McQuinnie “is no longer on our roster.” McQuinnie had been listed previously, and he is included in the team's media guide. But he never appeared in the university's enrollment database.

McQuinnie becomes the only member of OU’s 26-player signing class listed in the Sooners' media guide not to make it to Norman. (Offensive line recruit Natrell Curtis enrolled at Pima (Ariz.) Community College over the summer and never made it into the guide.) Freshman defensive backs in camp are Jenks safety Steven Parker and cornerbacks Jordan Thomas, Marcus Green and Tito Windham.
