How there is any argument that Nick Saban isn't the greatest college football coach in history is beyond me. Forget whether or not you love/hate Alabama or if you love/hate/don't give a shit about Saban himself. If you were given the choice of ANY coach in history to lead your program over an extended period of time you'd make a mistake not picking Nick Saban. His attitude, his policies, his whatever might upset you but you would win more with this guy than anyone else who has ever coached the game.

Saban is on the short list of coaches who could take his players and beat yours, then take your players and beat his.

For Bama fans its hard to choose, but either would be fine. Right now Saban is winning at around 82% of his games and titles seem to be a yearly or almost yearly thing in the last 4 years. It wont last forever, but its nice right now. Bear was a great coach, but I think the edge in todays game and with his mental toughness and drive to be the best, Saban gets the nod.

Bear ducked playing top teams in bowl games. FACT. It got so bad people were calling Alabama the Yellow Tide. Saban would play a Panzer division in a bowl game and probably win if you gave him a month to get ready.

you know, i went back and looked at his ducking of top teams and i saw a big grouping of top 10 teams that he played in major bowls. Sometimes Bama was higher ranked, sometimes not. I dont know that i agree with your assessment on this as the tail of the rankings doesnt bear out what you say. Maybe cite some specific examples. Remember back then the Bowls had tie ins on some of the bowls and they were also free to present the best matchup they could. I am not sure you can convince many that he was ducking top teams with the list of top 10's he played in bowls and several were 1 versus 2 if i recall correctly.

Bear picked who he wanted to play every time in the Sugar Bowl. Yes, he did play some strong teams when it was in his best interest. But there were occasions when he ducked a tough opponent when beating them was in question and the benefit was not that great. Bear was a great coach but it was a different time and he could call the shots. Nick Saban can't call the shots and it wouldn't matter anyway. Give the guy 4 weeks to get ready and he can win his bowl game 90% of the time. Alabama needs to appreciate this run while it's happening because these are "the good old days" when things eventually change........after Nick Saban is gone. He's the best there ever was. If he stays at Alabama he can easily win 6 National Championships.

Don't think the gumps O could even hold up the Stanford Cards D's jocks and I'm serious. The ONE team I see that could have a chance at stopping that running game AND getting to the QB are the Cards.

LSU has terrific interior D linemen but lacked the LBs, but Stanford's got the THAT AND the LBs to back em up, PLUS a secondary that can cover 1-1.

Fuck those high powered O's out there, those teams aint gonna beat Bama...

YOU want SMASH-MOUTH football?

WE got Stanford who can play THAT game. I beginning to believe THESE TWO squads may have a date with destiny!

OR SHOULD!:suds:

And you think that Stanford has seen the quality of O-line play that Bama would bring, or the size of the line that Bama would put on them. I think(and this is just my bias speaking) that Bama would do an ok job with the Sanford D. Question is, can the Stanford O withstand what the Bama D would do to them. I saw lots of opportunity to get to the man running the ball in the backfield the other night, had Oregon had some guys with meat on their bones and some speed, but all they had was speed and the Big uglies were manhandling them. This would not be done to the Bama Defense.

Just once i would like to see(besides Mamba) an objective word come from a Pac 12 member, but all we get is continued disrespect of a team that has proven itself time and again against any team it gets matched up against whether its a flying squirrel offense, or a smash mouth offense.

Wallace calls Stanford the Cards... LOL It is the color Cardinal.

Nonetheless Stanford would not be able to run on Bama. Much less move the ball. Dual threat QB's are the only way to have a chance. FSU, Clemson A&M and yes UO are the only teams that would have a snowballs chance. They would have to play error free and hope Bama makes mistakes. They are just too big, fast and well coached for any of us to think we can hang with them. It could happen but Bama would have to beat themselves.

Um. You might want to look at how big, how fast and how well coached FSU is this year. Bama will have their hands full with FSU, not the other way around.

FSU wins by 10+

You mean one dimensional Auburn. they run the ball to win and pass if they have to. Their QB is not very good and is terrible under pressure. Bama can stop the run and I dont see Auburn being that big a threat. LSU beat them and they are not near as good on defense as we are. time will tell, but i dont see that being the team that gives us fits.

How ignorant can you be ... let's assume that you are right and that FSU will give Bama fits. Do you really think that FSU won't have their hands full with Bama, because that is what you just wrote.

Before you start mouthing off about SEC bias, I was at Wake 2 days ago with FSU colors on, chopping away with my son.

FSU has a good team, but you don't have near the depth at running back, and as good as your QB is, McCarron is perfect in their system. Where exactly do you think you Bama is undermatched compared to FSU?

He says that Bama will have its hands full with FSU and then only claims a 10 point win.:L

When this game gets to be played, we will see. I herd the same thing from Texas fans a few years ago. LSU fans two years later because they had beat us in our house and we were playing on their turf. The net year we heard all about how Teo and that defense was going to manhandle the Bama offense and win going away.
To a team they could all talk the talk, but could not walk the walk. Level of play from one conference can sometimes be a big deception and i think we may be seeing this yet again, but thats just my opinion.

When the game is set, you can make all the comparisons you want and talk all the shit you want to and i am sure it will be debated and listened to and bookmarked so that when yet another opponent cannot walk the walk, we will know who said it. Until then we have to play Miss. St this week, not worried about an ACC team until its time.
