the good:

Indianapolis Colts- They were a playoff team last season, but many critics would talk about how the colts had a very easy schedule last year... This season they have already beat the 49ers and the seahawks, 2 teams that are seen to NFC elite... Sure makes the colts look like they have become an elite team.

Kansas city Chiefs- do i have to say anything more than they are 5-0... So what if they had an easy schedule, 5-0 is great... and Jamal Charles is the best RB in football, cant hurt...

Cleveland Browns- even though i hate them for trading Trent richardson, and believe that they will be hurting later on this season, you can not diminish the fact that they are 3-2 with a big win vs divisional and interstate rival Cincinatti bengals...

New Orleans Saints- not a big surprise that they are doing well, but they are 5-0 and they are doing it because of their Defense. Right now they look like a SB favorite...

Denver Broncos- the surprise is not that they are the best team in the AFC... the surprise is how good their offense is... we all expected them to be good, but this is the best offense of all time good... most points scored ever to start the season (5 games)...

THE BAD:

New York Giants: 0-5?? wow!!! they may have the worst offensive line, running game and defense in the NFL... If not the worst then near the worst... they are just bad...

Houston Texans: they started the season 2-0 but won both games at the last minute... we all were saying that that was a mark of a great team, to win the games that they should have lost... Well they lost their next 3 games and Matt Schaub got benched during this last game!!

Pittsburgh steelers:0-4, their defense looks ok, but their offense looks terrible... Hopefully for them, they jsut got their rookie RB back last week, their running game will be decent and that will allow Big Ben to be better...(most hopeful team of the dissappointments)

THE entire NFC EAST- they are just all terrible... The Giants are 0-5 and still only 2 games out of winning the division...

Teams that did not make the list but are minor surprises- Raiders, Titans, vikings, bucs, cardinals

Good...KC, IMO...they're the worst undefeated team remaining, but undefeated nonetheless. Barring a major injury, they're going to lock up a WC spot, worst case. CLE...I knew they were good on OFC...I didn't expect 3-2 at this stage...still think they're an 8 win team. SEA...I expected them to be good, but 4-1? I thought they were a 10-6 kind of team...great @ home, and would struggle to score on the road...very solid.

Bad...PIT, I've said before I'm not shocked, but 10-6 was my projection and 8-8 might not be a bad yr. I have a feeling they will turn it around and be mediocre...9-7 is my down grade. HOU...I thought IND would be competitive but the DIV would be owned by HOU.

2-14, but no worries, i know where you're comin' from...

sounds foolish, but they were a very good 2-14 team... They had more probowlers than most teams... this shows that they had the players to be good... Not to mention, they were a preseason sleeper team that season...
All they needed was 1. a healthy jamaal charles.
2. A better game managing QB.

It wasnt totally unbelievable at the beginning of the season.

Still is not... they lost 2 games to the patriots and saints... you can not consider them too much of a disappointment yet this season... If they lose tonight, then they deserve to be one of the biggest bad surprises...

Well the Colts were a playoff team and I don't think many people had them dropping off by much so I won't put them in the surprise category. And pretty much everybody said KC would be competitive so that's not a shocker either.

Lot of people near jump off stage here...some get rid of Ryan buzz on sportstalk!

I'm surprised as well, but not shocked...they're just avg on the OL...SJax will make up for some of that when he returns. And they're also just avg on the DL to start with, losing Biermann put 2 young guys on stage in place of him...relying on 2 rookie CBs also....blah, blah. Sounds like excuses, but just local knowledge of the team LY they had no major injuries...my preseason expectation was 10-6. I thought worse case 2-2 at this point.

How are the Colts a bigger suprise than the Chiefs? The Colts were a playoff team last year. They should be good this season. The Chiefs won 2 games last year. The Chiefs are this year's Colts. In fact if KC had any weapons on offense besides Charles, i might even call them a real contender this year. But the fact is that if Donnie Avery is your best WR, you're not a contender. But if we manage to go 10 and 6 which I think is a real possibility, that should get us into the playoffs. Contenderhood should come next season.

The colts playoffs road was paved the same way the Chiefs look this year... they had a very easy schedule thanks to being in last place... Not to mention the chiefs are lucky to play the NFC east this season... They have a very easy schedule... Now, i am not taking anything away from a 5-0 record it is amazing and all and they are the favorites to win the WC1 slot... But the Colts this season are squashing the notion that they won last season thanks to their schedule, they demolished the 49ers(given that they played them at a good time), and then countered with beating down the seahawks... that is 2 teams that are seen to be NFC elite...

It is really just splitting hairs though since they are both great and pleasant surprises... I am just more surprised by the colts...
