I'll go ahead and say the Jets will not be as terrible as everyone makes them out to be. I don't think they sniff the playoffs but I see more of a 6-10, 7-9 type team. Their division sucks and their D should be good enough to keep them in games and probably steal a game or 2.

I laugh at these 2-14, 3-13 predictions. I mean it could happen, if we got a ton of injuries and really imploded. But we were a MUCH worse team last season and went 6-10. If there was a year we would go 2-14, that was the year.

I think their pass rush will be better and since Revis missed most of last year they have upgraded at corner. Chris Ivory is a more explosive/dangerous runner than Shonn Greene (in theory), Stephen Hill has improved. When I look at the Jets compared to a team like the Raiders it's not even close. There are few redeemable pieces on Oakland's roster.

At the very least, at least the Jets should have a good defense. The Raiders don't even have that.

Really, it comes down to the QB with the Jets. If they can get quality QB play they could compete for a playoff spot, if not they could be bad.

Our offense is better than last season, at least they now have a quality OC. Their offense looked awful last season in preseason, this year its actually looked good besides the turnovers. Sparano was a terrible OC who ran the most predictbale offense in football. Shonn Greene was a terrible RB who didn't break tackles or make guys miss, left a lot of yards on the field.

We got Santonio Holmes back, that helps. Kellen Winslow and Jeff Cumberland are solid at TE. Jeremy Kerley is a good slot WR. Solid OL. Bilal Powell has looked solid at RB, Ivory could be good.

The defense has a really good DL. and we have 2 good units as our backups are good too. Leger Douzable looks like a good pickup as hes been great in the preseason. Antonio Garay is good. Damon Harrison looked dominant vs the Giants. Sheldon Richardson seems like hes legit. Muhammad Wilkerson is becoming elite.

Outside of 1 play our run defense looked stout. And the pass coverage overall has been good. Our depth at CB is pretty good. Darrin Walls looks like a find. Safety is the position I am most worried about on defense.

The Jets are probably a bottom 5 team, but the Raiders are on a short list of the worst teams in NFL history. For the Jets the range is probably 5-7 wins, for the Raiders it's 0-2.

Raiders, Bills, Dolphins, Jags, Chargers, Browns, Titans, Panthers I would not be shocked if the Jets finished ahead of. Bucs, Rams and whoever finishes in last in NFC East, would not shock me either, I have them about on par there. They'll probably be like the 10-15 pick next year, not bottom 5.

the problem with the Jets is that they have nobody to look forward to watch(hopefully geno smith changes this). They will be good enough this season to continue this trend... i guarantee it, they will be good enough not to get a top 5 pick in the draft...

It's ridiculous how people exaggerate the Jets' ineptitude. They're not going to win a SB, but they're gonna win more than 3 friggn' games. They're in an easy division, and they actually have a really good defense. That's good enough for at least 6 games IMO.

The Raiders, Jags & probably Cardinals have it significantly worse that the Jets do.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that NYC is the #1 market in the US, hell Oakland doesn't even rate enough to be named, apparently it's in the San Jose market #32, #15 Phoenix, or #50 Jacksonville, that might explain the media bias huh?

Actually it is more Ridiculous how people think the Jets and the Bucs are somehow the same.

Out of the starting 22, the Jets have Maybe 3 players that would start on the Bucs, all on Defense (1 DT, 1 DE and 1 CB).

Plus no one can answer how the Jets got Better from a 6-10 season?

They got a Whole Hell of a Lot worse!!

Who's saying that?

Most people. In the media, I cant find one positive article on the Bucs for this upcoming season, its all negative. No One on this board has the Bucs better than 8-8. Most have them at 7-9 or 6-10. I have only found one prediction that has the Bucs with a better than 7-9 record. That was espns today. CBS has 4-12 Jets and 6-10 Bucs.

On this Board people think the Jets will win 5, 6, or 7 games. The few I have seen has the Bucs at 6, 7 or 8 wins. In fact most power rankings and prediction have the Bucs at 21. The Highest I have seen is 19. The Jets meanwhile seem to be #30 in every power ranking. The Bucs are closer to the Jets then the Playoffs most the time and I just dont see how the Bucs are closer to the Jets than a Playoff Spot, even though I am a Biased Homer. Obviously if injuries hit like the last 3 years, then it could be like that.

But the Jets, IMO, have no potential for the 2013 season. On defense...
3-4
DLine - Great. The Strength of the Team. This unit will have to play 100% every play of the season though. With the weakness around them, they have to play over their ability to make up for the lack of LBs and Ss behind them.

Outside Backers - Pace is old and while a good veteran pass rusher, how much does he have left. Plus he has never been the same since his Foot problem. Coples is a great talent but can he even stay on the field? If these guys are 100% and play as well as they can then this becomes a Huge Strength. If injuries hamper and limit one or both these guys then its a Weakness.

Inside Backers - Average. Not quick and not very instinctual. If the Outside backers and Line play above and beyond then they can be the workmans needed. But are very limited.

Corners - At least they have Cromartie. Millner is not ready for the NFL, plays too loose and is an injury waiting to happen. Wilson is a huge bust. I see a hugely disappointing year for the CBs on the Jets outside of Cromartie.

Safeties - Landry has been a streak player but is old now so who knows. I just dont see much talent here. And given the CB situation, they better hope and pray they have no injuries on the DLine or OLB spots.

Forget the Offense. This Defense is a teeter totter. If Coples, Pace, Wilkerson, Ellis and Richardson do not own the game(which they can easily), the Jets will Lose IMO. The Jets remind me a lot of the 2011 Bucs....

The Bucs were 4-2. DT Gerald McCoy got hurt for the year, while at the same time Tanard Jackson was reinstated by the NFL and just Given the starting Job. The Team imploded and Quit. Lost the last 10 games in Horrible Fashion.

If One thing happens to that DLine, this team could implode. Worse yet, if that DLine decides to pack it in then it could get real ugly.

Because the media puts them out there about as often as the Patriots and the Cowboys.
its because our media is a circus. They sensationalize stories, other outside media members are starting to realize the unprofessional agenda writers we have following our team. Mainly Manish.

The Jets clearly didn't get worse... They had so many things that went wrong last year that that would have been the year they went 2-14. For one, 2 of their best players went on IR early in the season. We had the absolute worst OC in football, we had the most predictable offense in football as we led the league in runs up the gut. Our passing schemes were terrible. We had a terrible starting RB. and we got old at certain positions. Also, the Tebow mess really made things worse. They had no idea how to use him and they were confused and screwed up drives.
Our offense couldn't even score a TD in preseason last yaer and they looked awful. Marty has consistently coached top 10 offenses, so his resume speaks huge upgrade for us. Young players got better, Santonio Holmes is back, and we added some players. There is noway our QB will play as bad as last year. Even if Sanchez starts, he'll be better than last year. He looks way more comfortable in this offense, which is QB friendly, than he did all of last year in Sparano's offense, which wasn't QB friendly.
