not entirely true..if you end up waiting too ling for a strong starting TE, it's not all that bad of an idea to have a second option every week. Not ideal of course, but I've seen it work firsthand ;)

One or the other, but not both. At least not to start the season.

Once roster spots open up due to injury or poor performance, it isn't a bad thing to have 2 defenses rostered. Again though, this is only if you are streaming or if your primary D sucks. When you have the Seahawks, you need to roll with them just about every week.

Well, I see 103 targets still available for TE usage... and that's with a low projection for 100 on Welker.

kets step back a second though...100 targets, at BEDT the will turn into 80 catches..Welker averages only 11.2 yds over his career. That puts him under 900, and probably his typical 5-8 TDS decent #2 stats...bad #1

The referred to a second TE...no way I'd roster 2 defenses unless the rules mandated

Most people go this way? I like carrying 2 defenses instead of 2 TE's unless I've grabbed a top 5 defense who I'd play regardless of their opponent. I like have the option of picking the opponent played with defenses instead of grabbing that 5th WR who probably will never see any action unless my first 4 get injured.

Very rarely do I have an owner in any of my leagues with two defenses rostered throughout the year. VERY rarely, and i have no solid numbers to back it up, but I can't ever recall seeing anyone win one of the titles with two defenses on the roster.

As the season gets late (heading into Week 13, say, if I don't have a go-to DST, I might shed some bench players to secure good match-up DSTs.

the guy that won my PPR league last year carried 2 DEFs most of the way through. I am the same way. I do fluctuate between 2 TEs and 2 DEFs on and off throughout the season, based on matchups.

I think DEF and TE are easier to play the matchups with than to waste higher round draft picks securing the 'top' player/team at the position. I typically let someone else chase the #1 rated DEF/TE/K, while I pad my depth at RB/WR. TE 1st (8th-10th round, depends on # of owners and how draft is rolling), K last out of those positions.

Remember all the fools that reached too high for David Akers last year? I had one in most of my leagues, and laughed at all of them on the inside.
(I learned a long time ago to not laugh openly at another's picks, at least before the games have been played, lol!)

Pre5ty m7ch anyone who takes a kicker before the last two rounds deserves a good flogging..and to be laughed at.

10 team league last year, I had GREAT starters, so I carried 3 DST! ...and one was Seattle! I say it all depends on your team and the time of year...as for drafting two? Tough to not "need" that one bench spot early on as your team develops. But if you kept stud-drafting and didn't need that 5th WR or 4th RB, I don't mind playing the matchups...and it's fun to look for nice fantasy "partners" to own, not only for bye weeks, but I'm sure the Chargers owners won't want to start them against Denver, but might not want to drop them either...
