I respect your opinions but he didn't touch the ball....he stabbed at it and it was on his glove side. No way there is an error given on that play but, IMO the ball shoulda been caught

The play is irrelevant though. That's not why they lost the game.

It was slicing away and he never had a chance because of how he was positioned before the play. Most players are going to have trouble making that play if they aren't in correct position to start. I've heard conflicting reports that it was he who shaded in and I've also heard that he was put in the wrong spot. Regardless, the play wasn't made and it's not something worth holding a grudge over. They had other chances to win the series and didn't do it.

I don't hold a grudge at all. In fact, after Josh put us up by 2 in the 10th I thought it was curtains for the Cards. No way can you blow a lead twice! No one play or player lost that WS. But Wash going with Oliver to put it away? I'll always have trouble with that one.

I can pinpoint 10 or so plays in that game that make them world series champions if they go the other way. Singling one out above the rest is ridiculous. The fact is they had the lead the next inning and still lost, so focusing on anything prior is pointless. It happened.

Team sport and we lost the series for many reasons. I just know we win if Cruz doesn't have his nuts in his throat. Reminds me if the young player begging the ball isn't hit to him.

We win if Pettis doesn't have his head up his ass and actually has his best outfielders out there instead of an injured right fielder, and also if he has the correct alignment.

Exactly! A teams loss never rests on the shoulders of one individual or one play... saying things like this over simplifies the game.

going back on it... its on his right side or his throwing arm side. To put the loss all on this one play is sort of lame as Rev has stated as well.

well I understand the click this board has going, so I wouldn't expect much different.

You go to the wall, not jump and stab at the ball still two steps from the wall.

also....never pinned the entire loss on Cruz....said group effort but that catch seals the championship and was far and away the biggest choke of the night

But that didn't happen, it was out of his reach as a result, that was as much coaching as it was Cruz
