So, Howard tells Rockets he wants a 3rd superstar?

Since this is Howard and he is being unreasonable, I would guess he is setting himself up to stay with the Lakers.

He's crazy if he stays in LA. On most any other team Howard would be the bomb. In LA he is Kobe's boy like the rest of the team.

Not necessarily!! Personally, I'm at the point where I really don't care!! If Dwight wants to return and wants to buy in 100% to being a Laker and what that means, then I think that him re-signing would be great!!

However, if he doesn't want to buy in to that, or wants to have things the way they were in Orlando, then the Lakers should let him walk, take their lumps next season and then go into the summer of 2014 with only Nash under contract and as Mitch Kupchak says: "an enormous amount of financial flexibility"!!
Being able to accept him walking is different from saying you dont want him there like some of my friends are saying. You can tell they are lying through their teeth.

If there is an understanding that Kobe takes a back seat (and not on the drivers side) I think it would be in his best interest due to the amount of cap space the Lakers will have in 2014-2015.

Howard has a point, btw. The guy he'd be replacing, Asik, is actually pretty good and Howard jumping on the team wouldn't make them *significantly* better. Just a little better.

NBA owners should make this big baby sit out for minimum 3 years.

Yeah, I agree. I'm sure that some honestly don't want him to be re-signed because of all of the drama (it's my main reason that I really no longer care). However, assuming he is 100% (and it seems that he is) then he is the best big in the game and that's a great thing to have on your side!!

I don't think it is in Kobe's nature to take a back seat. I don't see that happening.

I know everyone is going to call me a hater but is Kobe going to be the cause of the Lakers missing out on more rings?

Because he is bad for the NBA. He bitched and cried for 2 years in Orlando. Demanded a trade. Goes to the Lakers and shits the bed. And now he will want max money.

The players have to much control. They should play and respect the game a bit more. Sitting out Hpward would teach him respect when the money stops rolling in

:agree:

Kobe is said to be part of the contingent that is going to be meeting with Dwight tomorrow. I would bet that at least some of his decision will be based on what Kobe says re: taking more of a backseat. The one thing that makes me think that Kobe may finally be willing to take that back seat are his age combined with the severity of the injury that he just had. It may be that Kobe has been faced with his mortality as a basketball player and may finally be willing to start stepping back and letting the Laker transition from "Kobe's team" to "Dwight's team"!!

As for the cap space, even if Dwight re-signs, the Lakers will still have plenty of money to put some real nice pieces around him next summer!!

So the owners lose money attempting to teach him a lesson? That will never happen. People that own businesses don't believe in teaching lessons. They believe in making money and will exploit any asset they can trying to do it. Howard is not their child. He is a hired gun paid to do a job.

Depends on Kobe!! If, as I stated in the previous post, this injury has caused him to accept his mortality as a player, then maybe not. If he still wants it to be completely his team, then at the least it will mean no ring next year.

After next year, I don't think he can be a factor because his contract will be up and the Lakers may choose to move on whether Kobe wants to or not.

Well, Kobe wants it to be HIS ring. If it aint his ring he don't want it.

So he should shut his fucking yap and thank his lucky stars he is in this position.

Owners will make money regardless if Dwight Howard is playing on their team or not.

The owners should band together and sit this fucking baby out for 3 years and send a message to the other players that they wont put up with crybaby bitches who are trying to run their teams

Thats actually what I am hoping for. I want Howard to stay with the Lakers so he and Kobe can get to the Finals and get smoked by the Heat. That would be a great Finals to have a 3 peat. :laugh3:

So he should be thankful that he has a skill that is in high demand and not make any demands? Lets give that piece of advice to your employer and tell him that you only want minimum wage. Do you see how that is basically the same thing?

Be careful what you wish for!! If the Lakers made the finals and have Dwight and Pau in the paint, the Heat could be in real trouble considering their struggles against teams with strong post players!!

Either way, Kobe vs. Lebron in the finals would be pretty huge!!

If I demanded shit like Hpward does I would be fired.

Its not about Minimum wage its about respecting the game. Players like Howard do not respect the game

LOL

You guys are hopeless. Kobe is NEVER GOING TO CHANGE HIS GAME.

If you don't get that by now, you never will. He didn't change for Shaq......he damn sure isn't changing for a ringless Dwight Howard.

Kobe will defer for a game or two.......then it's back to business as usual. He's way too old and set to change how he plays the game. Kobe would rather go down shooting than passing.
