GO SPURS GO.

Ever since Splitter came back in game 3, they have shut down the Warriors completely.

The Spurs defense resembles the #5 rated defense it was all season with Splitter instead of Matt Bonner as the last line of defense.

The 3 pointers are not falling anymore at 50% levels for the Ws as the Spurs are up in their grills most of the time

If SA can muster some offense, the Spurs should win.

Surprisingly, the Warriors best shot at extending the series is with DEFENSE.

I don't think they are going to beat the Spurs with their offense anymore.

But the Warriors have shown an ability to play surprisingly good defense in this series.

So, I am a bit nervous still.....

But an 18 pt beatdown feels good regardless.

GO SPURS GO.

my guess is that GSW probably rallies for the home crowd in game 6.

But winning game 7 on the road is usually near impossible.

The series has been tight. So, my predictions are probably completely wrong.

Anything can happen in game 6 or game 7.

But, either way the Warriors should have a nice future whether now or next year.

Well they have to win with both actually, the warriors defense has been good all year. Curry and Thompson just not making shots they usually make.

I don't really see the Warriors play that much. They are never on TV.

So, the defensive ability of Golden State is far more impressive than I expected.

I have in my head the image of a "no defense" Nellie ball style.
It looks like Mark Jackson has them playing at least adequate if not good defense.

That has been the biggest shock for the Spurs and the entire country I think.

I figured the Spurs would overwhelm them with the layups and post-ups eventually.
I figured the Spurs would get some stops AND obliterate them on the offensive end.

But, the Warriors interior defense has made it far more difficult if not impossible at times.

At times, they have forced the Spurs into a jump shooting competition which is not where San Antonio wants to be....

SA is a very good jump shooting team. But, they are not as good as the GSW.

San Antonio won its 3 games with a layup drill and dunks.
They lost their 2 games when the Warriors defense forced them into shooting jumpers.

That Warrior defense has been impressive at times.

They are going to need to find it again in game 6.

This is going 7. I expect the Spurs to win a game 7 but its going 7. Curry disappointed me tonight.

The only way he can make up for tonight is by going off thursday in a Warriors victory.

9 points in a critical Game 5?

If those 2 played to their normal standards this game would have been very interesting because GSW had great role play from Landry, Barnes, and Jack who combined for 61 points between them.

I think Curry is hurt more than he is letting on. The Spurs have no one that can guard him at 100%. Klay will be OK next game. This is par for the course with him.

Huh?

Danny Green has been pretty effective at guarding Curry, even before he tweaked his ankle.

Curry was hurt before the playoffs even began.

He retweaked it during the nugget series and re-injured it again earlier in this series.

Green has been better defensively than what the Spurs were doing in game 1 but the guy has been playing hurt for awhile now

^a lot of this. Warriors still have that reputation of being a small ball team. Understandable since the last time they made any noise was the series vs the Mavs.

What this current group of Warriors is doing is nothing short of amazing to me.

Rookies are making up a third of their rotation. Lost their all star power forward and injuries to bogut and Curry and they're still battling.

Green and Leonard contributed a lot in this win (are they usually this involved or are they more role players?)

It took ridiculous shooting nights by Steph (game 1) and Klay Thompson (game 2) for the Warriors to jump out to those leads. Going to need one them carry the scoring load if they want to make it to game 7.

Leonard and Green are doing remarkably good jobs in shutting down Curry and Thompson.

But, I still believe that it has a lot to do with the return of Tiago Splitter.
I beat this drum after the first two games.

Leonard is a freakishly long athletic guy. Curry cannot simply shoot over the top of that wingspan. Curry has to go around the slower Leonard.

The Spurs were reluctant to play that real close defense in games 1 and 2.

Curry would dribble around Leonard and have nothing but Matt Bonner defending the rim on one side. Bonner is a horrible defender and Leonard/Green know it.

So, Curry/Thompson had a little bit more spacing on the 3-point shot in games 1 and 2.

Now, with Splitter back there. Even if Curry/Thompson decide to go around Leonard, he will have his choice of TWO SEVEN FOOTERS blocking the rim in his path.

This is where David Lee would make the most difference.

His offense would occupy Splitter and/or Duncan to prevent them from always being help defenders.

Curry was banged up before the playoffs started. He sprained his right ankle and injured his hamstring as well before the Spurs series.

You may be on to something there. Too much effort needed to get to the rim for an injured Curry which is what he would usually do after he breaks some ankles. Klay doesn't have that in his game yet because he jumps off 2 legs 90% of the time when he shoots.

I dont know man Curry scored 22 in game 4 with green on him. I do give credit to leonard and green but they havent been amazing.

The reason David Lee would make a difference down low is because the Warriors can set up their offense from the post.

He offers a ball handling and passing option in the high post- pick n rolls, pick n pops, and Lee could take a broken down play off the dribble or make 15 ft shooter. He doesn't need to be set up the way Landry n Draymond do.

Question to all basketball fans:

Just curious, with Golden State's situation in mind. Would you rather get eliminated to prevent future injuries (ala Derrick Rose) to keep playing with what you got?

The topic came up today, with Bogut, Curry and Lee hobbling out there. Is it worth for a young team that's building into a contender to take this into consideration?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not conceding anything but if they keep winning, there's still 2 more possible series yet to play.

I almost rather they get eliminated and heal up for a run next year that risk injury to Bogut and Curry (who are hurt and have a history of injuries)
