Not sure why Oden is number 1. Injuries derailed his career, not poor play.

Len Bias anyone?

I think what contributes more, is the fact that Portland passed on Durrant. With as unfortunate as his injuries have been, the TB will always be know for taking Oden over KD

And Sam Bowie over Jordan

I have several draft rules......NEVER take size, or potential over SKILL and ability. And never take guards(PGs, SGs) that can't handle the rock. Never draft on potential unless you have no holes on your roster.

It always amazes me that teams do just what I typed above with #1 picks and always end up with a bust on their hands.

When Oden was healthy, he proved he could play in the NBA. That's why I don't understand him being labeled as a bust.

How in the hell can Bias be a bust when he never played a single minute in the NBA?

Bust to me means that the player has been givin' the chance to prove himself, but showed he didn't belong in the league....like Adam Morrison or Darko etc..

Portland did have a hole on their roster at the Center position, that's why they chose Bowie. The year before they drafted Clyde Drexler and didn't need a shooting guard like an MJ.

This is what always cracks me up about the Bowie vs MJ argument. Its like people dont realize that Portland already had a HOFer at SG. Teams draft on skill but NOBODY knew MJ would end up being so good so why would Portland take a SG the year after taking a SG???

It was a joke. Obviously the guy was going to be 'a bust' in the league after he coked himself to death.

Did you watch Darius Miles play? He might not have reached his potential, but that doesnt mean he was a bust.

Yeah, the list isn't consistent. If injuries and who was drafted after them affected their "bust status" then I think the list would have to include Jay Williams and Jonny Flynn. It doesn't make much sense to include Oden and not those two, IMO.

Jay Williams (Dajuan Wagner was drafted after Jay Williams and is on this list)
Jonny Flynn (His basketball career end over a hip problem, and he was drafted ahead of Steph Curry)

Kwame Brown.. oh, man, we had such hopes for him. LOL.

I think this is the first2000s list I've seen where he wasn't the #1 rated bust.
