Ansah is 1000X the player Hunt will ever be. I wouldn't be surprised if Ansah had 15 sacks next year.

Zimmer also like Roy Williams, Taylor Mays and Chris Crocker for this defense. I'm not impressed with his safety drafting skills.

I absolutely loved the Margus Hunt pick. He was one of my favorite DE's, even some of the top talent DE's on the board. he is raw but has all the raw physical stats to say, if he works hard, and he "gets it", he will be dominate in this league, especially with Atkins in the middle pushing the pile and Johnson or Dunlap opposite side.

Gio, I am indifferent on him, but could be a very capable player.

I also liked Shaun Williams, but felt it was a toss up between him, Rambo and Thomas. I think Mayock was wrong in his draft grade on Williams.

Strong draft so far, and we still have a shot at a decent QB. We could get Dysert in the 7th the way this draft is unfolding on QB's.

Greene, Bray or Dysert.

Think we still need a tall, fast WR to compliment AJ Green top take pressure off him like Henry did with Johnson.

I'm warming up to Hunt, and in my mind Williams was someone else. I actually did a scouting report on him and had him listed late 3rd early 4th. My mistake on that one. I still like Rambo better though.

Rambo is a good player, and probably more highly rated than Williams by a smidge I would imagine. I like Williams size and speed.

Just think, almost anyone we took at safety at this point was a legit upgrade on what we have. Pretty ridiculous actually.

that would be nice. course, he can only run as far as AD can throw it, but better than nothing.

Williams was the better player at UGA and their team leader. Rambo has some off field baggage but also more God given talent in terms of pass defense. All in all I like the Williams pick. He plays smart, hard and his combine numbers were much better than expected. I think better than Cyprien's

From NFL.com on Williams

Georgia coaches give out a “True Grit” award after spring practice for an offensive and defensive player who stands out for his toughness and pure determination on the field. Despite the large number of NFL-caliber players on the Bulldogs’ defense, Williams has picked up the award each of the past two years. That attitude and voraciousness has shown itself on Saturdays, as opposing receivers and running backs will tell you as they get iced down after the game.

The former Georgia high school all-state pick put his hard-hitting style to work primarily on special teams during his first two seasons in Athens. Williams was named one of the team’s top newcomers after his true freshman year, finishing strong by making three of his season total of five tackles against Texas A&M in the Bulldogs’ Independence Bowl win. In 2010, he was one of the team’s Most Improved Players on special teams but also started three contests (34 tackles on the year). When a spot in the starting lineup opened up his junior year, all he did was lead the team in tackles (72, five for loss), intercept four passes (including one in the Capital One Bowl loss to Michigan State), and break up six others. As a senior, Williams made headlines for calling out his defensive teammates as "too soft." That description certainly doesn't fit Williams, who racked up 98 tackles (5.5 for loss), with four passes defended.

Analysis

Strengths

Physical in-the-box safety with an overall muscular build that translates well to the next level. Attacks gaps as a blitzer, has the speed to get into the backfield in a hurry to disrupt plays. Strong tackler, can throw down smaller running backs or larger tight ends with authority. Not relegated to the box, often in single or two-deep alignments and capable of moving well in short areas. Reads quarterbacks well in zone and closes to hit receivers as they are catching the ball. Intimidating in the middle, puts his shoulder into the chest of receivers to separate the ball.

Weaknesses

Will go for the big shoulder hit or a cut block at times instead of wrapping. Gets locked up in the run game when failing to out-quick linemen or rip off more aggressive receivers. Lacks the ball skills and hands to come down with many interceptions. Doesn't have the lateral agility to consistently stay with tight ends or slot receivers.

NFL Comparison

Sean Jones

Bottom Line

Williams joined Bacarri Rambo as part of duo of NFL-caliber safeties lining up for the Bulldogs in 2012. He combines a thick build, fiery attitude, and very good athleticism to be an intimidator over the middle and in the run game. He intercepted four passes as a junior, but did not record a single interception as a senior. How much range he has in addition to questions about how he can handle slot receivers and tight ends will likely see him slide some on draft day. Still, Williams could potentially see himself as a future starting strong safety.

Hey, we have a fantastic history of drafting safeties. Remember the genius that is George Iloka and Robert Sands.

Also, just for the record, I can still ban.

I'd be shocked. Didn't he only have 5 career sacks for BYU? And you expect him to dominate NFL competition next year? How does that work?

Both those guys were 5th round picks, no? And there were plenty of people advocating for taking those guys higher than the 5th because they had higher 'grades' by ESPN, CBS etc.

I like Hunt as a forward-thinking pick. We're not going to be able to re-sign all of our DL. Atkins is obviously the priority, and they'll have to pick between Johnson and Dunlap for the other big contract. That gives them a yr to groom an athletic freak before he'll have to produce...

I know people hate the workout warrior mentality, but he had solid collegiate production..

and yeah, 38 reps on the bench with 4.6 flat speed.. those are some of the scariest combine numbers I've ever seen

Just because he doesn't fit Mayock or whoevers projections doesnt mean he's a bad pick. He's tough. He's smart and he's a good athlete. I'm seeing a bernard pollard type. I think he'll be solid. A rich man's Chris Crocker.

I did see Georgia play a couple of times, and Rambo flashed in those games. But frankly that could have been because I already was aware of Rambo's name and was watching for him to flash. Don't remember a thing about Williams. But if Rambo was available and the Bengals took Williams, they must have knowledge that makes them believe Williams was a better fit.

I think the issue with Dalton's deep ball is trajectory..

Flacco, Cutler etc throw with high arc so it gives the receiver a chance to get under the ball.

All I know about him is he was 39th on Mayock's board, which means nothing. So again, I'll "trust" the braintrust of the Bengals (scarier all the time!)
