He makes a some valid points. I agree with him about the cross-division rivalry thing, it's bogus. Georgia Tech is ours and while there have been some good games and it is a rivalry of sorts, it's nothing that I get riled up over. It's just another game on the schedule. It's not like playing USuC or Va Tech or FSU. And calling it "traditional" is crap as well. Like he said, "Tell me about tradition when you're adding new teams ...." My affinity for Les grows every year.

People seem to forget that Alabama is fresh off the heels of playing UGA, then SCAR, then UF. You can't blame Bama or the SEC for UF deciding to suck during those 2 years.

Also, Tennessee is our rival, that's just the way it is, and it's a big one. I don't care if LSU doesn't care about UF, but we care about ours.

Agree with this wholeheartedly. Tennessee is our oldest rival and this game has its own designation in sports history as the Third Saturday in October. Why clamor and whine over the fact that Tennessee has been down a few years, this is not the norm and they have most always played Bama tough. Go to a ninth game and add in another opponent from the opposite division and this will help equalize the schedules a bit.

Bama keeping TN is not the big deal, even though they have been down for 10 years. Why not ensure that Bama plays one of the top teams in the East as the 2nd cross division? The top teams usually change so why not adjust the 2nd east team to be one of the top during the regular season? In 2013 the 2nd team is KY....really?

It's done on a rotation basis just like every conference does cross division games. What do you guys not get about that?

Alabama has absolutely zero control over who the SEC puts on their IC schedule outside the one rival cross division game against UT.

Tenn was the SEC East Champ in 2007, so it's not been that long.

All that a non-rotating schedule would accomplish would be to make it harder to get to a NC game... Who does that serve other than the other conferences?

You can't avoid playing at least one of the top teams in the East due to the championship game....unless of course two teams from the same division get in...:rollseyes:

I would be happy to go to a 9-game schedule...or back to a 12 team conference, but until one of those two happens it is what it is.

If we are not going to play all the teams in the conference over time we might as well relegate all the bottom dwellers to the FCS level...which BTW I am not opposed to...
