Winter Classic oughta be good this year. Although I really hope Bettman gets off of Cindy's lap rocket. Penguins get way too much attention.

It should be fun but I will be missing out. College football is my #1 and I will be following the Hokies...hopefully to Glendale, AZ, or at least Miami or New Orleans.

A. Tox, while the Flyers are a decent team, that was pure momentum last season. They;ll definitely make the playoffs, but not 1-5.

B. Is that your actual pic filo?

What momentum? Losing all of their top scorers AND their goalies at the same time???

They won on heart and determination, not from anything their best (hurt) players did.

...and filo wishes!! :D

Determination, yes, driven by early playoff success. Their regular season was nothing to boast about. But hey, atleast they made it, my team failed... They made it to game 6 with a great Chicago team, as much as I hate them, I give Philly a lot of credit. But with that being said, I just have a hard time seeing them in the first 5 seeds.

Lol, I saw that pic and was instantly like "where the f are some hot ass hockey chicks around here?"

Good points. Glad to see you took the invite and can discuss things without getting your panties in a bunch! :)

I'll keep that in mind before I drop the gloves with one. And in regards to the first comment, I am a hockey fan period. The team I choose to follow right now is the Rangers, since 06-07, but my heart still is in Hartford. What I'd do to get the Whale back. But I can give props to even my most heated rivals.

Do you even have heated rivals anymore? What with the Whale gone and your current team the Rags, I would think your most heated rival is Sather :D:D:D

Western Conference will be this (as of today, not reflecting any changes that may occur):

1.) Detroit Red Wings
2.) Vancouver Canucks
3.) San Jose Sharks
4.) Los Angeles Kings
5.) Chicago Blackhawks
6.) St. Louis Blues
7.) Nashville Predators
8.) Calgary Flames
9.) Phoenix Coyotes
10.) Colorado Avalanche
11.) Anaheim Ducks
12.) Dallas Stars
13.) Minnesota Wild
14.) Columbus Blue Jackets
15.) Edmonton Oilers

Since 15-11 have already been decided I'll just go with 10-1

1) Detroit
2) San Jose
3) Vancouver
4) Chicago
5) Los Angeles
6) Colorado
7) St. Louis
8) Ponicks
9) Calgary
10) Nashville

I think 1-5 speak for themselves. IMO 6-10 could really go in any order. It's hard for me to put Nashville outside the playoff picture, because they usually make it and Trotz always gets the best out of his players. Not sure what to think of Ponicks this year, but I do think they are going to drop. Tippett preaches a stingy defensive game though, and one thing I've noticed with previous teams that employ a similar style is that when they lose solid players it doesn't seem to have much of an effect. We'll see. St. Louis was one of the hottest teams in the 2nd half last year so if they can start off the season even just a few games better than last season, which was horrible, they should be good. I think the Avs see a lot of improvement this year, but they still won't be quite on the elite level yet. In a few years though, look out. Calgary is the wild card. If everyone has good years and Kipper is solid like usual, they could challenge for one of the top 5 spots. If you get lazy Calgary they could miss the playoffs, because they just don't have the skill required to make it so they need to play hard and gritty every night. Definitely a dangerous team if they make the playoffs.

Lol, yes we have heated rivals. But our most notorious would be Sather. Although he isn't doing a horrible job this offseason. He better do something with White, I was hoping that was just to get Brashear off our roster, but now it looks like he's staying. If that happens I'll be pissed, but I'm foreseeing another big move. I think our fourth line is gonna be one hell of a KO to you Atlantic foes, I'm thinking Prust-Avery-Boogaard. Aasen look's real good, and now we have some muscle to protect him and let him open up offensively, if he makes the team, which I'm almost 100% positive he will.

I think the Blues could jump up to as high as 6th seed. They have a very strong young team and now with Halak, I could see them making a move.

jeff-

another flyer fan getting on you about your rankings haha.. but i'm ok with them being out of the top 5.. for some reason they dont like to play like they can very often, and it gets them into trouble during the regular season.. but i really dont think they'll be below the rangers :)

and 46 how dare you show signs of weakness.. its glendale or bust!

When I slated the Lightning for the 10-spot, I felt they have improved, but I just couldn't put them ahead of any of the other remaining teams...nice to see THN able to do it.

I'll put the Lightning at 8 and Habs at 7.

Colorado was a very young team last season full of talent. I don't see how they possibly drop this year.

I just don't know how Anderson is going to hold up and there's always the possibility of sophomore slumps. Factor all of that in with what Peter Mueller are you going to get.....the Coyotes dud or the Avalanche stud?

I just get the feeling that there are way too many question marks there to see them improve upon last year. Also, they were one of the worst teams in the league in the second half. They went from 3rd overall seed to 8th in a hurry. But who knows, maybe they come out guns blazing again and edge out the Canucks. Hockey is a crazy game.

I see Phoenix dropping for the same reason. They had 14W's (iirc) that were shootout related. That's walking a really fine line there. Bryz will have to have another MVP-esque season and they lost Michalek as well. He was a big part of that defense as he's a great skater, good shot blocker and minute eater. I consider Whitney and Lombardi a pretty even trade off (at least not too much of one to make a huge impact).

Colorado was out-shot pretty bad in the majority of their games last season and Anderson saved their bacon. Can he do it again this year?
