How many years does a coach need to turn a loosing organization into a decent to good one? Obviously teams like the Chiefs and Browns think it's a 2-3 year project. Unfortunately for them they haven't found a 2-3 year coach to get it done.

Maybe it's time to give these guys more time. Any thoughts?

Apparently, the Browns are targeting Saban. I think they're going to offer him a lot of money:

He's been an excellent organization guy in College, the best in the business, really. Puts the best coaching staff together, etc. But there's a big difference between recruiting great players and signing them as FAs.

Assuming he and the GM are on the same page, I'd give them 3 years. Maybe longer if the GM is doing counterproductive shit (see: Jets).

Are you guys forgetting the fact that Sabban quit on the Dolphins. If he comes back to the league it won't be with Cleveland, Kansas City, Arizona or Buffalo. If he leaves Alabama, and I doubt he does, it would be for either the Chicago or Philly job. They are better run organizations and have better talent to start with.

Browns reportedly going hard for Chip Kelly.

Yeah I would have to agree and say you gotta see improvement in 3 years. Interesting though, because Schwartz of Detroit seemed to turn that disaster around last season, but he went back to failing this year. My guess is he has one more season to get it done.

Like Sabban, I'd be shocked if Kelly left his school for an almost guaranteed 2-3 years and done job. The Browns are a terribly run organization and wouldn't be a great place to test the water. Arizona, Chicago, and Philly would be a better opportunity for him.
