No he doesn't, his brother Carl is the DC

That just shows that your knowledge of anything outside of Texas is pretty much zero.

Get a life, and find a sense of humor.

I see no Nebraska fan can answer this simple question either. Figures.

You had your answer. Tomhusker answered you and you unwittingly (or witlessly?) answered it.

Bo is one of four coaches in FBS history that has won 9 games each of there first 5 years. Solich was a 10 win coach that was fired and we could not get a decent candidate for HC because of that. We will not do that again.

As for firing Papuchis (DC) he is Bo's protege and Bo is not going to fire him. Ironically he is the icon of Bo's failure, bringing in his staff that he wants to train up to run a program he creates. By doing so he has surrounded himself with coaches that are in over their heads. Perhaps if he had 5 years to train them regardless of results he would have the staff he wants. What he does not realize though is that they are just that, in training and as soon as they graduate another smaller school will grab them up with a thank you Bo, We'll take them now and he again is going to some Ohio high school looking for a replacement.

This is what I was looking for, THANK YOU. Just some insight into why Husker fans seem so hell bent on keeping Pelini.

To the outside observer, it doesn't appear he's doing a great job. I'm just curious as to when the 9 win seasons stop mattering when the few losses are by 50 points routinely. That's got to be coming and probably already has for a number of you.

It's like Texas fans......after the OU beatdown, Mack was DONE as far as the fanbase goes. We all know he's not the coach for this team. I'll just observe to see when that tipping point hits the NU fanbase.

I think there are more and more fans who feel like he has their balls in a vice. But then again it's the boosters that matter and I don't know how the majority of them feel.

I think a lot of this is premature. Yes we got blown out. But like Tom says its more then winning. Now I understand that Nebraska could very well be a 7-5 team but we are not we are a 10-3 team our loses came to UCLA who have improved from last year but a lot of teams improve with a first year coach and the talent they have in California its not hard to turn a corner fast. Ohio St. again great coach with a lot of talent not hard to have success. Texas honestly a blind monkey could coach your team to 8-9-10 wins a season with the talent you have. Your bench is loaded with more talent then half the teams in the country. Mack Brown is not living up to snuff for the talent he has.

Back to your question as to why Bo has a job. I believe becoase the way he is leading his student atheletes to be seccussfull off the football feild. Having a successfull football program believe it or not is not the primarary goal here at Nebraska Tom set up the Unity council and the teammates mentoring program to make Leaders out of men. And I beleive Bo is carring on that tradition. Winning at football is nice. But not repeating the same mistakes and failures is the goal (LP) Now we are a 10-3 team who got there hat handed to then big time on national TV on more then one accoshion. But if you look at players like Rex Burkhead and team Jack. or Brook Berringer Those are the types of legacys we are leaving behind. Wins and loses come and go and people forget and forgive and get over it. But Team Jack and the Brook Berringer foundation that has the possablity to live forever and only improve. Bo is leading this program in the right direction because he is doing things for a bigger perpose other then just winning. "In the deed the Glory"

also spelling and grammer have never been my strong suit. And that is why I think Bo still has a job

A LOT of boosters want Mack gone, but Deloss isn't going to fire him. He's basically too old to be conducting a coaching search. The name that is rumored to be the top candidate for our mythical opening is Gary Patterson followed by Chris Peterson. My fear is that when Mack actually does go, there won't be an opportunity to hire coaches of their kin. There's a lot of openings and this program isn't going to hire some up and coming coordinator.

I agree with you that building leaders is a major goal of the football program but the truth is you have to sell tickets to do this and to sell tickets you have to field a winning program.

Nebraska has a tradition of building character legacies but they also have a tradition of winning. The first would of never happened without the second.

to the outsider i don't see Pelini as a failure. You look at his overall body of work and it isn't bad at all. 9 wins every year, this year they are 10-3.

Pelini just has brain farts of games. He has historic losses and those are the ones that stick out. Overall he has done a decent job, but everyone remembers the real bad losses.
