Supposedly Cruz hotdogged after his homer and made a comment

Royals reliever Louis Coleman hits Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz with pitch, benches clear | texasrangers.com: News

Yea read that on the ESPN account and the KC TV feed announcers were strange ... but watching the Cruz HR don't think it was anything out of the ordinary really. Just another epic Cruz HR.

Sharing the same facility in Surprise TEX and KCR probably know each other better than any other team. I didn't see much other than a big show even with the bullpens emptying and all. Lot to do about nothing.

Not sure what was going on with Cruz and the KC pitcher, but what MY did was epic. As much as I rag on Young he deserves a huge hand. Well played, Sir.

Yeah Cruz was watching the HR a good ways out of the batters box, still nothing too bad. The KC announcers were hilarious after Coleman hit Cruz. They were talking about how he didn't want to charge and was waiting for someone to hold him back. No morons, he actually has something to play for so he wants to voice his displeasure without getting suspended for some games. It isn't like we are fighting to avoid 5th place in the weakest division in baseball.

As for the MY HR, did you guy see his exchange with the pitcher right after hitting it. I can't tell if he said anything, but he definitely was staring down Coleman and Coleman was staring right back. That was awesome.

All and all ... should be an interesting game today. PR department at Kaufman came up with a great idea to elevate the hype for this September 4-game series with TEX.

TEX is reknown for playing to the level of the competition. The win yesterday tied the season series with KCR at 3-3. Actions in the top of the 9th yesterday may wake the guys up and fuel an offensive surge.

That is what I'm hoping as well. Needed something to fire up the team, galvanize them with that "us vs the world and now is the time to get going", and with a sweep we can bury all but end the Angels hopes or distance from OAK a bit.

the Angels are pretty well buried as far as the West is concerned right now

Yeah but I want there to be zero percent chance they can claim the West before our next series with them. Just take ALL wind out of their over-hyped sails.

their next 12 are 6 with Oak, 3 with Detroit and 3 with KC. our next 12 are 3 with KC, 3 with Tampa, 3 with Cleveland and 3 with Seattle. it would take a combination of Texas wins and LAA losses totaling 20 to close them out by then.

Ok, I'll take an Angel sweep in their current series with a Ranger sweep to keep them at bay, then a few angels losses so they are double digits out of it by then :)

Comparing schedules tells you absolutely nothing and until a team is eliminated they have a chance. Look at the top 10 choke jobs of all time and you'll see just how fast leads can vanish. It can and has happened with larger leads than the Rangers are currently sporting. Throwing dirt on the grave is the only time a lead is safe in baseball.

The ball was smoked and traveled a long way so it may have required a longer look. Baseball "fights" are pretty lame most times, but Nellie is a pretty big guy and I don't think he needed anybody to hold him back. I noticed that Coleman didn't exactly send Cruz an invitation to join him.

"may have required a longer look" -- which is typical of most Cruz moonshots. He had to stand there for awhile waiting for it to come back to Earth.

Coleman hardly moved from the rubber. Cruz wasn't going anywhere and was probably more upset that Pena tried to sell it as 'not deliberate' than he was that he got plunked.

Coleman would have been better served to K Cruz as he did Elvis, Hamilton and Beltre in the 8th than give Cruz a free pass and adding himself to the very short list of guys who have given up HRs to Young this year.

The Flawed Five: Jason Vargas (SEA), Scott Atchison (BOS), Jason Berken (BAL), Henderson Alvarez (TOR), Louis Coleman (KCR)

what difference does it make who hit it. KC made a dumb move by hitting Cruz and they paid for it on the very next pitch. that's what good teams do

Was thinking the same thing. I'm not sure he expected Cruz to take any steps towards the mound at all. It didn't look to me like he wanted any part of Nelly. Nelly's a big dude and could've hurt him very quickly.

Was awesome to see Young at the front of the confrontation getting his player's back. Then the following homer and stare down while barking at Coleman was pretty awesome. For one day FACE redeemed himself. Maybe this will be a spark he and the team will carry down the stretch.

Yeah, Nelly was definitely just taking a few steps so that it was apparent that he was upset. If he jawed while walking to first it wouldn't garner the same attention from a guy who had to know he was about to be pummeled.

Yea ... that wasn't going to happen unless Cruz wanted to spend the balance of the season suspended.
