Derrick Henry: Will Alabama flip UGA’s top recruit? | AJC College Sports Recruiting

Really starting to sound like our top commit might be going to Alabama.

Do we really need him? We should be set at HB for a few years with Crowell, Marshall and Gurley, if this kid doesn't want to honor commitment and thinks Bama is better for him then he should do what he wants. We'll get another top RB next year, and he won't be missed. ...but if he wants to be a man and stay with UGA, I'm sure the coaches would be happy to have him.

When I hear news like this, my first thought is usually "don't let the door hit ya on the way out", but I'd hate to lose a guy to another SEC team.

Georgia has a commitment from 4-star OL Bryan Kublanow from Marietta, GA. Mr. Kublanow has > 10 offers, including ones from Florida, LSU, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt. He is the 17th commit for the Bulldogs, who lead the conference.

Texas A&M has a new commit, 4-star LB Bret Wade from Kennedale, TX. Mr. Wade had > 10 offers, including one from Ole Miss. Aggies have 16 commits, and everyone of them is from Texas. As I said in an earlier post, it is going to be interesting to see how the Texas talent really stacks up.

LSU has a commitment from 4-star QB Hayden Rettig from Los Angeles, CA. It seems that a lot of the top QBs are giving LSU a look these days: after seeing Jordan Jefferson's performance in the NCG, I guess they figure LSU needs help quick. Mr. Rettig is the Tigers' 11th commit. Rettig had > 10 offers, including one from Auburn.

Arkansas has picked up 3 commitments: from 3-star DB Alex Brignoni from Fayetteville, Ark., 3-star LB Brooks Ellis from Fayetteville, and 3-star QB Austin Allen, also from Fayetteville. Razorbacks have 5 commits.

Great that LSU is getting another quarterback, but it is at the point of overdoing it. I think Stephen Rivers (RS Freshman) will be a good starter by the time he comes up. Although I expect their to be some dual usage with another running quarterback named Randall. The guy has a set of wheels and is young as well. I honestly don't mind the idea of dual quarterbacks as long as if one is having an off game, we use one guy and stick with him.

We certainly dont need him. We took Yeldon last year who is going to be a stud and already have 2 RBs in this clas both of whom are actually better than Henry; Tyren Jones who will be a borderline 5 star by end of year and super athlete Tenpenny. We will also take Bo Scarborough in 2014 and one of Leonard Fournette or Racean Thomas all of whom will be 4 or 5 stars (fournette and bo are guaranteed 5 stars). Thats not mentioning the other depth we have including Dee Hart and Kenyan Drake. So yea, the smart money is that if Henry switches to Bama he better get ready to play some TE/Hback.

Better than Henry? Debateable. Befoe he committed to UGA he was being hyped as the #1 RB... now he's apparentley the #1 Athlete? ... I'm sure if he does switch to Bama his stock will rise meteorically.

I don't like 6'3 running backs...

Ive been saying for quite some time that i think scarborough will end up at WR. Bone has thought LB but is now back on the RB train. Most think RB, and you cant go wrong really either way...he is just that good really special talent with that size, agility and burning speed.

Oh were you talking about Henry. My initial response to your post was assuming you were talking about Scarborough. But i see now he is listed at 6'2 though just finishing up his sophomore year.
