Should the NFL strip this owner of the franchise? It's getting to be embarrassing how cheap they are.

This is what happens when you have to pay two high end receivers high end money.

And why nobody usually does it.

I think you can do it if you pay one of the WRs while your QB is on a rookie contract. The way they did it not so much

Needing to pay Trey hurts too.

But the double down on All Pro receivers is a luxury few can afford.

It seems like the Bengals just have a bad habit of not fully developing and paying their defensive players. They let Jesse Bates walk, Germaine Pratt walk, Trey is probably going to walk. Most everyone else is just players nobody else wanted. Really hard to build a defense without pillars. I thought DJ Reader was huge for them.

I'm all for 56 to 45 point games since 40% of the fan base don't actually watch games. Now this group will see more of the game.

It's nice to have the Bungles back. NFL wasn't the same without em'.

Paying two receivers huge money is surely a constraint, but Cincy has been known to be cheap as hell for a long time.

I think the Cincinatti area is a small market, the owner Mike Brown is not very rich by NFL standards, with the team being his main asset, and they like to pinch pennies at every corner. They famously made players use used jock straps years ago, they're so cheap.

Most fans were expecting Pratt to get cut. He had good numbers, but if you watched the game, he was slow, constantly out of position, all his tackles came down field, and he missed a ton of tackles. Pratt didn't look like the same player last year as years before, so we all knew he was going to get cut. Some of that could have been him playing out of position to try and make up for the rest of t he crappy defense, but none the less, he looked different from years past, and it is no real shock from a fans perspective. I mean hell, his old D-coordinator didn't even want him after he was released by the Bengals.

Bengals with Hendrickson, well that is the Bengals being the Bengals. They have never offered more than 1 year of salary as guaranteed in any of their contracts until Burrow and Chase, and so they are refusing to give a 30 year old more guarantee than their standard contract they write. That will not work for Hendrickson, but they have offered him $28 million for this year to increase the contract he already signed which was for $16 million. Is Hendrickson worth more than that? Maybe. Based on other contracts I would say yes. Do the Bengals have to give him more than that? No. They could make him play for the $16 million he already signed for. Is it in Trey's right to sit out or retire? Sure. He can do that if he wants to ruin his last few earning years. The Bengals have him by the balls. He signed a contract for this year, and he is either going to play through this year and become a free agent next year, or he is going to retire. If he holds out until the last minute, then the Bengals can tag his ass with the franchise tag the next two years. Balls meet vice grip. What would be best for Trey now if the 3 year deal t he Bengals are offering is not worth it, is take the bump in pay for this year, make $12 million more, and add a clause that the Bengals can't franchise tag him next year and he is a free agent out right.

Regarding our rookie not signing his deal. The Bengals are putting new language in their contracts that protect them from behavior issues or off field issues. Same exact language the two picks right in front of Stewart agreed to. Just that the Bengals have never written a contract with that wording before until now. Stewart is not willing to sign because it is different from other Bengals, but not different from around the league in general. If you show up for work, don't cause issues, don't get into trouble off the field, you are safe. He will not sign that, so now I am wondering about his dedication and character if that scares him.

Makes me a little nervous about the impending Williams extension! Campbell not talking about him like he is a standard #2 option.

We are overpaying a few players at key positions and then have to skimp elsewhere. We are a small market team, we need to get rid of the greedy players and get back to "THE MIKE BROWN SYSTEM" of player development, developing young talent from the bottom up rather than the top down.
We got in over our heads with Burrow. I have faith in the Bengals big brass!!! Going to right this ship.
Who dey!
Big Brass of the Bengals.
