LOL.

No.

It was hands down the worst moment in American professional sports history.

As I have said before, Artest got off easy. He should have gone to jail.

You are way off.
Good chance you probably don't even remember what the second half of ESPN doubleheader was the night of Nov. 19, 2004...

It was Memphis @ Sacramento.

You just know that Stern cringed at that matchup almost as much as he did at the events earlier that Friday night...

And?

Why do you still obsess over the brawl and Paul George?

It's not healthy.
Spencer Hawes never played for either the Sonics or the Pacers...

Yet, he currently has a Pacers logo as Twitter image during these finals. He's a die-hard Seattle resident that's still pissed at the move 17 years later.

It happens...

You are right.

Has absolutely nothing to do with what happened in Detroit or the consequences each player received.

Had Stern gone light on the player punishments it would have sent the message that what happened that night was acceptable.

It wasn’t.

One of the biggest black eyes in the history of the league.

You of all people that's obsessed with market size ought to see it easily that the league did not want Pacers/Spurs final in 2005...

But no, let's just pretend to live in an alternative reality that Mr. Stern was looking out for the best interest of someone other than himself.
Why does the league care that much? They have the TV money no natter who gets there.....the networks care though, sure.

The league cares because they have future tv contracts to consider.

Yes, they have the tv money now, no matter who gets there. But if the tv ratings are lower than tv wants...the next contract won't be as lucrative.

Not necessarily as the networks know it's a crapshoot on who gets to the Finals that can bring in more eyeballs. If ratings are down this year they'd understand why.
