I remember in real time thinking that he was speaking for all of the other owners. It was almost like, "well who's gonna say something?" Irsay was probably said, all my skeletons are out, so I'll do it.

If you remember Dan was threatening to spill the beans on other owners, including Jerry. That was where he fkd up. Once he lost Jerry he was cooked.

Even then, it took Gibbs to talk him off the ledge and get him to sell.
Clearly Irsay made some terrible decisions in his life. I am not wanting to trample on his grave, but I am not trying to build a statue to him either.

I love this team, but was highly confused why owners like Jones and Kronkie did nothing to stop the madness. I only remember Irsay actually saying anything negative about Dan. Even Goodell protected him in front of Congress.

Jerry quietly loved us being down. Mara as well. The Skins have always been a sleeping giant. Once Snyder and the Skins started drastically dragging down the profit margin as well as Goodell being dragged into deposition.....it became a situation where Snyder couldn't survive. Plus he had to pay back that loan and no one was coming to the games. Just rehashing all of this makes me appreciate Harris and where we are so much more.

Not an Irsay fan but I did like him speaking up. We can't forget Snyder ended up in front of Congress as well .... so did Goodell. You know that went over like a fart in church .... same as Dan saying he had the goods on everyone including Jerry. Last but not least was the NFL allowing Dan to over borrow to buy out the minority owners. In the end Dan shot himself in the Richard.

To my knowledge none of us knows how much debt Snyder was in but I believe it was at least 1/6 of what he got for the team.

I am starting to wonder if some of the owners were actually intimidated by Snyder? Especially after news broke of the PIs walking around looking to gather dirt on owners. I don't know IF that is 100% true but I would not be surprised. I don't think some of these men are living the most chaste and clean lives.

I think most of the owners viewed Snyder as the annoying little brother and mostly ignored him. However, as reports came out, and investigations started digging deeper, most probably started to grow irritated. Irsay had the guts to stand up though because he had nothing to lose I guess.

Maybe we should kick the tires ?
Depends!!
I'm not sure about a draft pick, but a player or players swap might be doable. The question is, and I offer this to the board, which player or players would you swap for this guy? (He is 29 years old, originally a third round pick, Tennessee 2017, stands 6'3" weighs 248 lbs, and runs the 40 in 4.46 seconds)

Jonnu Smith vs. Zach Ertz

Key Differences:

  • Experience:
Ertz has played significantly longer in the NFL, with a career spanning 12 seasons, while Smith is in his 8th year.

  • Blocking:
Ertz is known for his strong blocking ability, while Smith's blocking has not been a major strength, according to some sources.

  • Receiving Style:
Ertz is a reliable receiver who can catch the ball in a variety of situations, while Smith is more dynamic and can create big plays after the catch.

  • Career Stats:
Ertz has amassed 775 receptions for 8,088 yards and 53 touchdowns in his career, while Smith has 88 catches for 884 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2024.

  • Team History:
Ertz has played for the Eagles, Cardinals, and Commanders, while Smith has played for the Titans, Patriots, Falcons, and Dolphins.
In summary: Ertz is a veteran tight end with a proven track record, while Smith is a more dynamic and athletic tight end who is still developing his full potential.

Pass for me, unless you're thinking he can keep up more fluky years where he gets more receptions than Hill and Waddle

Kyle Pitts is 24 years old, Weight: 247 lbs
Height: 6′ 6″ and runs the 40 in 4.44 seconds. He was drafted in the first round of the 2021 draft, 4th overall. Again, I wonder if there's a player for player swap that gets the deal done? So, I ask the board, which player or players would you offer for this guy?

Bates is a plus blocker, so unless Pitts blocks well, that’s probably a no go.

Who replaces eckler?

Sinnot is also a blocker and receiver. , and I think our 7th round pick JCM can replace Eckler

But truth is the falcons won’t bite on either

Sinnott isnt a plus blocker - yet, and the seventh rojnder hasnt done anything yet either.

In any case you’re right: this deal wouldnt be enough to get the falcons to bite.

I am not sure I want to eat Payne’s salary or give up a newton , Coleman or Mikey to get a deal done so you are looking at picks
