I am glad Bird is getting a chance to start, but I am of a certain age that when I heard a pitcher called "The Bird", this is what comes to my mind.

Really nice game, save for a couple of just awful ABs, e.g. Adams last AB v Lorenzen with runners on 2nd and 3rd one out. Just terrible control of the zone. Bird looked excellent, RanRod was RanRod and now we've got Harry to bring it home.

I took the heir of my house to see all the minor league parks in SoCal when he was a freshman at UCLA. One of the places (that no longer has a team) was High Desert in Adelanto (near Victorville on the way to Lost Wages). They were the "Bulls", and their theme song was "Woolly Bully", and we must have heard dozens of snippets of that song throughout the game. It was kind of cute at first, then it grew increasingly annoying. After one of their guys struck out, "Woolly Bully". After one of our guys struck out, "Woolly Bully". After one of their guys hit a foul ball, "Woolly Bully". After one of our guys walked, "Woolly Bully". You get the idea.

I took the heir of my house to see all the minor league parks in SoCal when he was a freshman at UCLA. One of the places (that no longer has a team) was High Desert in Adelanto (near Victorville on the way to Lost Wages). They were the "Bulls", and their theme song was "Woolly Bully", and we must have heard dozens of snippets of that song throughout the game. It was kind of cute at first, then it grew increasingly annoying. After one of their guys struck out, "Woolly Bully". After one of our guys struck out, "Woolly Bully". I still remember that team as the Mavericks. Wonder why they would change to the Bulls.

Love having Birdy back in there. Nice win. Krukow was saying Walker fixed something physically. If he’s back, that’s a pretty damn solid bullpen.

Ah, you are correct, their name was the Mavericks. When we went they were a farm team of Seattle. Their last two years, (2015-2016) they belonged to Texas.

Oddly, I didn't feel tortured. Didn't even need to change my depends. A couple of the ABs were incredibly disappointing; we should have scored about 5 runs.

But I'll take 3-2 wins all day long.
