Happy Father's Day T-Roy
If we finish the season with the team that starts the season, yeah, 11-12 wins is possible. Our first 22 looks good. But the drop-off is huge across the board to the 2nd units....
I like the move. Talented player. Dangerous deep threat. Gives defenses something else to be concerned with. Teams been stacking the box for years. Maybe Dak and Pickens take advantage of them bracketing Lamb with two guys every snap. Teams were not concerned about Tolbert and Brooks. The numbers on this kid are staggering. Like something only elite of the elites do. He's never had a QB as good as Dak either as you mentioned.
Lamb one side, him on the other, Turpin in slot. Ferg and Blue make for a hell of a check down......or Pickens, turpin and Lamb make plays to save daks bomb ass throws. Two go routes and a post. Where's the safeties and where's the LBs?
Well that's the way I have it drawn up in my head.
I think 7-10 wins. A lot depends on Dak and other key players staying on the field. If we finish the season with the team that starts the season, yeah, 11-12 wins is possible. Our first 22 looks good. But the drop-off is huge across the board to the 2nd units....
Yeah, I think 9-10. We really just need good luck, health wise. We can compete wity anyone when healthy. If we line up Diggs, Bland and Revel at corner against Philly, we can get it on with their 3 WR sets. But if it's Bland, Elam and Carson(if Butler isn't ready), that's a different animal.I think 7-10 wins. A lot depends on Dak and other key players staying on the field.
I think one critical unit to be happy about is the pass rushers. EZ,Fowler,Micah,Williams and Kneeland is a hell of a rotation. If the Cowboys get a big lead the other teams QB is going to be under a lot of pressure. I am trying to not get too high or low on this team. 4wins would not shock me. 12 wins would not shock me either. I think they need to pound the rock up the middle until the other team stops it. I am so glad McCarthy and Jerry never came to an agreement. McCarthy just never ran the ball enough IMO. They lost games because they got too pass happy
Tolbert being a number two was just ridiculous. He made a few nice catches but every WR does that.I like the move. Talented player. Dangerous deep threat. Gives defenses something else to be concerned with. Teams been stacking the box for years. Maybe Dak and Pickens take advantage of them bracketing Lamb with two guys every snap. Yep. They had to get an upgrade.Tolbert being a number two was just ridiculous.
punch the defense in the mouth! When we hired Adams I posted a bunch of stuff about him in one of these threads that I found online. I didn't know much about him (I mean he was the AZ OL coach ) so I researched as much as I could. What players said. What coaches said. How his units improved when he came to the respective teams where he coached. How he moved up the ladder at Colorado. I liked the Schottenheimer hire and really liked the Eberflus hire, but this was the one that I just flat out loved. The more I read about him, the more I loved it. Here is another video I saw on another site. It's worth the watch for a little summary about him. If this doesn't get you excited for the possibilities of where we could be in 2 or 3 years I don't know what will. Like I have said a bunch of times, I hope if this year doesn't go great that Jerry let's this staff have a minimum of two years and hopefully three. No, we aren't likely a SB team next year either, but if this year's draft pans out and so does next years and if we bring in a couple more top tier players via free agency or trades we should keep building in that direction. It's all about the plan. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
If you don't watch it I'll give you a quote that will tell you how much different Adams is from McCarthy. When asked what his offensive philosophy was: "Create violence in the game. Be aggressive. Run. Hit". I suspect we are going to see a lot more physical, tougher team starting this season. I also liked the way he adapted the run game to the skillset of his team to be successful. We have three big strong physical guys in the middle and don't forget that while Steele has struggled in pass protection he has been a good run blocker for most of his time here. Run the ball, get that safety up and then you have both CeeDee and Pickens to deal with on a PAP. I also expect to see a lot or Ferguson seam routes. If you have about 8 minutes it's worth the watch IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a HC some day:

I really can't Jerry and Stephen are so utterly stupid when it comes to long term deals with their star players. The fact that we are paying Dak $60M a year and even a player as great as Josh Allen is like, nah, $55M is fair market, we don't expect other teams to be as stupid as Dallas SMHMicah just might make more than Dak if they keep waiting…
I did the same once we got Pickens on the 7.5. I think the over 9.5 is very possible but not a great number to wager with our schedule and injury history/situationEven after the Pickens move the over/under is still 7.5 but now -140. Also have an over 9.5 option at +210 that I never would have considered before the Pickens move. Obviously wouldn't bet it at even odds but at +210 could be worth it. Hopefully it stays there until the Summer and we hear how the injuries are progressing and how the rookies look. I've already bet a decent amount on over 7.5 once the Pickens news broke thinking it would go up
It just makes Dak's contract look more and more horrible as each subsequent QB signs. You sign an older QB that probably isn't even top 10 and absolutely won't be by the end of the contract to a deal that is not half a million higher per year or even a million higher than anyone else which is what normally happens, but significantly higher (9% higher). Even the morons that tried to justify it with the "next man up" or the "that's the going rate" comments look as dumb as Jerry now. That contract is just an indictment on this front office as will Micah's be.I really can't Jerry and Stephen are so utterly stupid when it comes to long term deals with their star players. No definitely not a great number I'm saying only because the odds. When you have a +210 bet you don't expect to win it. 9.5 would be a moronic bet at even odds. Micah's over/under sacks will probably be 13.5 whichh I will bet. But then there will also be a 15 or 15.5 plus number at probably +180 or +200 which I will also probably bet. Doesn't mean I expect him to get 16 sacks. Just the odds make the possibility worth it,I did the same once we got Pickens on the 7.5. It like Jerry wants to overpay just so he can brag about it afterwards.I really can't Jerry and Stephen are so utterly stupid when it comes to long term deals with their star players. Totally agree. The folks saying we "had to pay Dak"...Why? How many playoff games have we won in the last 8 years? If it's a reasonable contract, $51-52 when he signed, I think it's still too much to pay him, but $60M? The Dak contract isn't the worst contract in NFL history only because Deshaun Watson is still making money. Otherwise it's the bell cowIt just makes Dak's contract look more and more horrible as each subsequent QB signs. At least Micah will be worth his contract but that doesn't matter. The point isn't whether he earns it or not, the point is you will pay Micah around $45M per year when you could have paid him around $36ish(?). I've said forever the cap is just math. There is no magic. We just prove to be as incompetent with the re-signing of our own players by how much we overpay them as we are with how little we want to pay outside free agents. It's hard to imagine a team can be this dumb. It's like entering a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. We just have no chance
Was just listening to a podcast with Nate and he said something pretty sobering. We were talking a 3-5 win reality and if we have oopsies like the cards from a few years ago or saints .... we just don't know.Yeah, I think 9-10. We really just need good luck, health wise. Overshown and Liufau or Murray can get shit done at LB
Liufau and either Murray or Sanborn just compete. Gotta get healthy and stay that way
I don't agree with Nate on that. Last season Jerry and Stephen sat out the offseason, signing Zeke as their big FA and a blah draft. This year they had a made a good hire for HC, had a decent FA, what looks like an excellent draft, and made a great trade. That adds up to more than 3-5, unless we have a similar season to last year, injury wiseWas just listening to a podcast with Nate and he said something pretty sobering. I'm not a big believer in ex-players opinions as they never seem very accurate. They sure as heck know their x's and o's, but it seems to stop there. I mean look at Irvin. He just predicted we would win 12 games this year. Does anyone take his predictions seriously? But, I'm not following exactly. Nate is predicting we will only win 3-5 games this year? Even after last year that seems awfully low. Or is he saying last year we could have been a 3-5 win team? Was just listening to a podcast with Nate and he said something pretty sobering.
