I don’t follow the NBA - BUT the Dallas Mavericks won the draft lottery with a 1.8% chance. That coupled with the Islanders at 3.5% chance - wonder what the odds are of this happening ?
The fix was in for the Mavs after they traded Luka. Odds without the fix slim to none.

This could be a sold number 2 center:

Trade: Edmonton First-Round Pick, Philadelphia Second-Round Pick for Marco Rossi

Rumors have been flying around the Minnesota Wild’s Marco Rossi for some time now. Those talks got sparked again following the team’s first-round exit to the Vegas Golden Knights, where the 23-year-old center was demoted to fourth-line minutes for the entire series. This was despite a promising regular season in which he accumulated 24 goals and 36 assists for a career-high 60 points in 82 games.

Though Rossi himself didn’t badmouth the team for gashing his ice time, it seems like the writing’s on the wall. A restricted free agent this summer, the 2025 NHL Draft is a likely time for him to get dealt, if at all. With an abundance of draft capital, the Flyers can accommodate a Wild club without a top-50 pick in this class. In this case, Minnesota gets two of them: a first-round pick via the Oilers and the Flyers’ own 36th-overall selection.

Perhaps the Wild are bigger fans of an NHL-ready player, but a first- and second-round pick is still a decent haul. As for the Flyers, Rossi’s 5-foot-9 stature does nothing to improve their grit, but his skill and smarts could be invaluable. While his size and the possibility of a long-term contract make Rossi a risky buy, nobody’s ever won playing safe.

Proposing a trade is always going to be semi-outlandish territory, but there’s reason to believe the young Minnesota center is on the Flyers’ radar. With an excess of draft picks, they can reasonably outbid Rossi’s other suitors.

I'd be on board with that move. EDM 1st and PHI 2nd. Might even be willing to send more tbh. Probably doesn't resolve the 1C problem, but it puts a quality top 6 forward that brings offense in. Other than Michkov they're really missing offensive catalysts. TK can put up points, but he doesn't drive the bus. Luchanko doesn't seem to have that level of skill either. Rossi could bring it. Hopefully whoever they get at 6 can bring it. The secondary scoring is there. Foerster, TK, Tippett, Luchanko, Brink. They have defensively sound guys like Couturier/Cates/Poehling. Just need to get that offense kick started.

Ok i like this but in a few years hell be gone too. Its just what we do. Blame the coaches instead of the shitty players we have.
Eh. Not overly excited about it. But it's not Lappy so I'm content! Hopefully he keeps Shaw to continue the work with the d-men.
I guess we'll see what happens, I would have preferred someone a little younger with a proven track record for developing players, but realistically at this point our kids are seasoned vets for the most part. It's time to pull up thier big boy pants and play nhl hockey!

I remember him well as a player but know nothing about his coaching style or abilities. If he coaches like he played, we will be fine. Hustle, toughness and leadership on every shift would be a nice change. Also a fun note - He had 18 Gordie Howe hat tricks during his career, which is the most in NHL history

In fairness, it's what the NHL in general does. Only Cooper, Bednar, and Brind'Amour have been with their team since before 2022. And 20 of the 32 teams hired their coach less than 18 months ago.

We've need more players with big boy pants for a decade. Hope with all these picks we seamlessly move into out with the old and in with the new.

We have had 9 different coaches since 2009, that's a lot more than the average NHL team.

I wish we had 2 or 3 players who could get a couple of Gordie Howe hat tricks no less 18.

Don't have time to look at every team, but this article says the average tenure is 2.3 years now. Averages to about 7 coaches since 2009. So, not too far off. And the 9 counts Yeo, Shaw, and Gordon who were all promoted to interim head coach to finish out a year and coached 120 games total between the 3 of them.

Flyers have had a lot of coaching turnover, don't get me wrong. But it's a lot more prevalent than you're insinuating.

Your adding in the scrub teams to your average. Good teams dont change coaches 9 times in since 2009. That's the point. Its not the coach its the shitty players.

Lets use a team like the Avs as an example which have good players. They have had 3 coaches since 2009
