Seattle plays at home week 1 because the Mariners are on the road.

Looks like you're correct in that the Hawks will play the 9ers on week 1. Although not sure that has anything to do with the Mariners.

Mariners do not play a home baseball game on week 1 Sunday. They don't have both teams at home at the same time.

But I guess the NFL couldn’t resist having the Cowboys/Eagles division rivalry to open the season, especially with the Cowboys being media darlings.
Media darlings would imply favorable press which has not been true for decades.
Now rating always apply. Must be that. The Dallas fan base hasn't increased for 20 years. It remains the haters.
Really no other explanation.

He may not even be on the team

He sure will be. He has the number one selling rookie jersey and Haslam didn't order to get him for nothing. Haslam is a business man first. He ghe feneric version of Jerrah.

Dallas has to play them up there sometime. New coaching staff, addition of Pickens, it may be a little easier for Dallas to gameplay a known vs a lit of unknowns

It was going to be Commanders, Cowboys, or Rams. I'm guessing they want the Eagles at Commanders on SNF and not at home against them.
It was never going to be the Rams. It was going to be an NFCE rival or possibly KC if the Eagles had them at home. The only other possibility I see on the schedule is Detroit. I can’t imagine they even considered the Rams

I didn't think Fox would turn down KC/Dallas or CBS electing for a Thanksgiving game over a GOTW. I also didn't think the NFL would let Fox have both Eagles/Chiefs and Eagles/Bills.

Well now that the Rams weren't SNF. I didn't think Detroit would be SNF. I thought Lions would play Rams and Chiefs. If that had been the case, the Eagles next NBC option was probably the Rams over the Packers. But I also thought the Eagles would get three SNFs, including the kickoff.

Rams or Commanders would have been a much better pick than the Cowboys.
What we’ve heard is that networks haven’t gotten as much as they desire out of the Eagles Cowboys rivalry in past years because they’ve scheduled the game so late in the season hoping the games would make an impact in the division race. It’s always seemed to not matter as one of the two teams seemed to have an off year. By making it the first game of the season, nobody (looking at you Cowboys) has played them out of contention.

says every Rams fan on here and no one else :D

It's pretty obvious the Cowboys were picked for two reasons. The rivalry being the second reason, but the fact that they are the big ratings draw is absolutely reason #1. This is going to be the biggest Thursday night opener from a ratings perspective ever unless it is a blowout early. If we are being objective about it and ignoring the money aspect, picking anyone but Washington, KC (if that game was a Philly home game) or a very distant 3rd of Detroit doesn't make any sense at all. I know you guys keep saying it should be your team, but they aren't even in the discussion. Personally I think it should have been Washington. One never knows how a new NFL season will play out, but coming off of last year Philly vs Wash just makes sense from a football perspective for a lot of reasons.
