Dear lord, you know it is bad when someone WANTS Doc Rivers to come and coach their team.

Gotta give him some due, given that Mazzula has blown two straight leads like this. But yea, Doc is a tough bar lol.

yeah … tough loses in the 2nd round

… did I say 2nd round? … I did … this is the 2nd round isn’t it?

Yeah, sort of. Cavs and Celtics got to play teams that would've been play-ins at best in the first round. Wolves were 16 games over .500, or in other words 16 games better than Orlando.

Not saying the Wolves aren't better, but Orlando's best player missed 36 games and their second best player missed 22 games during the regualr season.

Mazzula is that rare coach that you know isn’t very good even while watching his team win a title.
Ozzie Guillen and Ned Yost are others (different sport I know).

Is Doc a good coach? Budenholzer? Vogel?

Doc is a career ruining injury (and a rigged game 7) from a 3 peat coach

So he's good?

I think he’s above mazzula

But I also don’t think that says much

It’s crazy that Brad Stevens got stuck in this situation after making so many shrewd moves

I actually think Doc gets too much grief, he did some good work with the Clippers when they had a pretty weak roster and he would win playoff series anyway

Not saying they are…

But I don’t recall people blasting them while they were winning.

That came mostly in seasons after they won.

I agree that he did reasonably well with the Clips early on and with the Celtics.

But he has been really bad since then.

People also forget they basically made the equivalent of a star player trade trying to fill a gigantic hole in the roster and never got it filled (same with the blazers tbh. Very similar situations)

He also went up 3-1 in series he wasn’t supposed to win, which I think was part of his point.

He badly outcoached mazzula in 2023

He even won in Boston without embiid

It’s not his fault his stars faceplanted in game 7 (he did have harden)

And he has to navigate harden getting Joe smith’d without the benefit of the new contract
