Just saw a stat showing that 19 of Boston's 20 FG attempts in the third quarter were from three. Utterly ridiculous.

15-60(! )
"Obviously in hindsight, if we could go back, we'd probably drive the ball a little bit more because we missed a lot of shots tonight," said Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, who went 4-of-15 on 3s. "You can always go back and look and see what you should have done differently."

… and they still went to OT in a 2nd round playoff

Credit the Knicks... forget the C's shooting woes, the Knicks totally out-played the Celtics in the 2nd half... they wanted it more.

On to G2.

Should have never come to that. And wouldn't have if they didn't obsess over jacking up threes

I agree . It drives me nuts when they lose, but nobody will win the argument against them, that if they’re open, they’ll take the shot …. maybe you can try, cuz they never listen to me

To me, it's not so much the number of 3's shot as it is not letting success be your guide.

If the 3 is falling, by all means, keep shooting.

But if it's not, then it's time to shoot some 2's rather than just continuing to fall further and further behind.

I get the "theory" that if they keep shooting, they'll eventually start falling...but there's also something to be said for seeing a few shots or free throws go in, then going back to shooting 3's.

Doubt they are going against their season long strategy. It will always come to that and highly doubt they shoot that bad again. Same thing happened to CLE, they missed a ton of 3's

right or wrong, it’s definitely hard to watch …

… sorta ironic how one of the most versatile starting 5 in their individual scoring capabilities is so tied to the perimeter shots … is there a more versatile scorer than Tatum out there ?

no argument there, but as the leader of this 3 point shooting team, his isolation play is key to what he does best … which I’m saying is ironic
Tatum also takes a lot of contested, stepback 3’s. If he is making them everyone is happy. Gotta live with it. Same with Brown. Both those guys depend on 1-on-1 play and when they are hitting on all cylinder moving the ball too. Gotta force them to win those matchups and stay on shooters

They need to stop

They’re not good enough to do it

In that article Q linked above, it said the celts hired a chess head as a consultant … I’m wondering if they’re onto a tactical form of Money Ball … lol
