Yeah, rookie mistake by JJ. I get his logic and that's fine for the younger guys like AR. But Lebron is 40 and Luka was coming off having been sick for a couple of days. Gotta get them at least a few minutes rest.
I’m going to make a wild guess that LeBron had a part in it.

He got him on the wrist. They had a replay view that clearly showed it. That was the foul. If it was just his hand, it wouldn't have been as the hand is considered part of the ball.
I don't disagree, but here's the thing...regular season, thats clearly a foul. The way the game was called yesterday, no freaking way. I like letting them play, I'm old school. But if you watch Ant grabbing and clutching LeBron, which is pretty easy since it's in every highlight, and that's not called, the over the back contact on layups that weren't called, then you can't call him touching the guys wrist

Of course LeBron and Luka going to want to play the entire half.

That is where as a coach, you have to be the adult and say no.

Doesn’t even take much.

Steal a minute or 2 at a time.

From the perspective of some of the stuff they let go...I agree.

But I also don't believe in not making a call based on when it happened. If it's a foul at the beginning of the game, it's a foul at the end.

The problem in this case was that it really had nothing to with how the game had been called or when it happened. The problem was that a review was called because the T-Wolves were saying the ball went off of Lebron, not Ant. When the refs reviewed the play, they saw the foul by Lebron...so they had no choice but to call it.

I'm sure he did...however, as @tlance said that's when the coach has to override what the player wants.

I mean, Shaq always wanted to play point guard...Phil wouldn't let him. lol

That's why I called it a rookie mistake by JJ. He listened to the player when he probably knew better. I expect we won't see that happen again.

Oh hell no. Just the image of that is hilarious. It would have been like an out of control freight train.

Phil should have let him play PG in one game for a short period of time. It would have been a funny disaster.

There were a few times, at least with the Lakers, where he went coast to coast when the Lakers had a big lead.. It looked about like you'd expect.

Players love to play. What player in a game of this importance would ask to come out ? Back to blame LeBron for everything bs

Also I could be wrong but I don’t recall Minnesota subbing out Randle or Ant in the 2nd half either. Will fact check that when I get in

No blame, just saying a young coach is not standing up to the vets. Pretty sad Lebron was too tired to really contribute at crunch time though. They have to fix that, they are getting swept but most teams trying to do that.

The veteran assistants on JJ staff needed to save him from himself and tell him to find a small break for at least Luka and Bron.
