...and my argument for Jokic as MVP seems supported by this?

Nope.

Because we are talking about MVP for this season.

All time great status that matters a lot. The title also validates Jokic as a multiple winner.

But for 2025 prior seasons shouldn’t factor in.

Exactly. So there ideally there would be no voter fatigue or the idea that recent near misses make this "someone's year".

Im fine with either. Personally id go SGA due to team record. Punish Denver and Jokic for their failure to sign the most obvious hole on any team in the league.

This is SGA and its not that close. Would not be surprised if he was a near unanimous pick.

Best player on the best team.

That wins 80% of the time those two things make nearly every year. And considering the straight numbers are pretty close and then the fact that Joker already has a trophy case full of this award, it makes SGA the obvious pick.

Yea I see it as a tie breaker. I totally get people who bitch it shouldnt be a factor though.

If you're going to use that as the criteria, it shouldn't be called MVP.

Its not a major criteria. Its basically deciding who wins a coin flip.

If OKC had the same record as Denver this would be Jokic to win.

Again, how does that determine who is more valuable? Jokic generates considerably more points for a team that has a 10 point fewer margin of victory.

How does wins and losses determine who is more important is your question? We are rewarding players for a collective worse team output now?

Ideally for sure.

And had neither player won a prior MVP, my choice would be SGA.

So let’s not try to use the narrative that is why SGA is winning.

He is very deserving.

That is one statistic.

There are plenty of other metrics that favor SGA.

It’s over and voter fatigue is going to be less of a factor with all the games Jokic is missing now.

Denver has also won 2/4 games Joker has missed, with 3 of the games and both wins against playoff teams.

Small sample that doesn’t mean a lot, but it doesn’t help the 1 man show narrative.

Generating points is more than one stat; scoring, assists, even rebounds (esp. offensive).

Of course.

Jokic is better offensively. Might be the best offensive player ever.

SGA is also a lock down defender. And that is a large part of the reason why OKC is the best team in the league.

The aren’t any metrics that accurately account for the difference here.

Agreed, especially for individual defense. It's not like anyone locks down a single player for a game anymore with all the switching/screening/etc, so even those stats are flawed.

During the Nuggets game last night announcers said Jokic leads the league with 52 point accounted for each game (scoring + assists). SGA is third.
