Greatest leadoff hitter of all time. First million dollar contract if I remember right. Unstoppable on the bases. He was a character but every teammate loved him.I don't think..he was leadoff always.
But I only saw..him
While he wss..in Oakland.As
Apparently Nolan Ryan was the first Million Dollar Baby in any sport. Rickey's was the highest contract the next year or so after.Greatest leadoff hitter of all time. First million dollar contract if I remember right. Unstoppable on the bases. He was a character but every teammate loved him.
Yeah, it’s a pretty well known story as I’ve heard/read it before also but it’s timeless. LolI have read that before and it makes me laugh every time.
He was a character no doubt and I used to have the same opinion of him but then I read several articles over the years on how his teammates just loved him. I tend to put more reliance on that, but I get where you are coming from.I respect all his numbers and accomplishments, but I personally just am not a fan
I just cannot unhear and get the image and sound out of my mind of him holding a base above his head loudly proclaiming
how he’s the greatest blah blah blah.
He was one of a kind. I forgot about that stat line. Amazing.in meetings all day at work and did a little look back on rickey's career.
i still remember when he stole 5 bases off Randy Johnson in one game but i had forgotten all of the other craziness of that performance. ZERO official at bats. 4 walks. 5 steals. 4 runs scored. just an insane stat line.
