Should ichiro be unanimous?

Could be a one man class

He should be unanimous...

he should not be a one man class...

CC should make it too, and all the returning 6 shown should make it... of course Manny, Beltran and Arod wont for other reasons...

Utley seems more like a veterans committee candidate(which only shows how flawed the system is)

Andruw jones and Wagner should make it....

i can easily see 3 or 4 being part of the 2025 class of HOFers....

but that is an awful picture of Wagner... the black meshes too much with the background

you think Jones should get in?

he was pretty much done at 30. I looked at his stats and thought he was productive longer than that.

Arguably the best defensive CF of all time though.

He makes it more because of defense than offense. But he had enough solid offensive seasons

IDK, willie Mays Mantle and Di Maggio are still names I think they cloud that picure of Jones being the best ever,
Jones was damn good ut c'mon, Mays is far above everyone else

I'll go with Ichiro, Wagner and Jones. Utley is a long shot almost as much as the juice crew.

Defensive metrics will always be difficult to measure. But reputation, DWAR, gold gloves all support that he is one of the best ever if not the best.

Willie mays is the best overall cf ever. Sure. And he will get love for his defense because he was great and he is baseball immortal. But that does not mean he was better than jones at defense Only.

I'm not dissing Jones, I think he's one of the best but don't think he IS the best. His numbers are decent enough and I remember watching him so he's not an old timer to measure.
I can't see placing anyone ahead of Mays for any reason ( Mays is my all time fav player too )
Both Mantle and Di Maggio proved their right to be mentioned.
Cobb is another from the past. I would be mistaken if I didn't name JR to that club
I saw Mays, some Mantle but I can really remember Ken Griffey jr. So for me, Jones and JR are the best recent.

By the way, my friends best man at his wedding was Micky Mantle

its hard to separate defense with player... Mays is an inner circle HOFer, in debate to be the best player of all time...

Andruw jones is a player who just had a very good career... Very hard to be willing to compare the 2... especially when Mays was considered a great defender too... But if we talk about DEFENSE ONLY... Jones is always talked about in the same sentence as Mays... and many consider him better...

Again, Defensive metrics have always been incomplete and probably not entirely trusting... But with the stats that we do have Jones is better than Mays... Jones is the highest DWAR of all OFers of all time... he has golden gloves galore...

i do wonder if fans could separate offense and defense on all time greats, if this would even be debateable....

I'd vote for 5, maybe 6 of those returning players. Only one I'm iffy on is Wagner. I'd put in Sabathia and Ichiro, the other three of those fall just short for me. Maybe on Felix.

These posts should always have a poll attached…

but anyway…

Ichiro is an absolute no-brainer. A real possibility to be unanimous. CC and King have outside chances to join him,but bitch are FAR from locks.

Of the returnees, none would get my vote, but I would seriously consider Jones.

Is there a vet’s committee vote this year? If so, what subsection are they considering?

CC is a lock... maybe not for a first ballot(which is still the stupidest premise)...

Felix is an interesting case especially paired in the same class with CC... King felix was better than CC but CC has the longevity to get him in, Felix doesnt...

there is a vet committee, i saw Dick Allen is up for that again... and he should make it finally....

Looks like the Vet’s Committee (now called the “Era Committee”) will be looking at the “Classic baseball era” which is basically anything pre-1980. They can look at any contributor (players, managers, executives, umpires, ***** Leagues, etc). Not sure if they create “finalists” then pick from that or if they just announce the new inductees. I also don’t know if there is a min or max for inductees.
