Falcons ran 81 plays with 58 passes thrown so it's not that big of a surprise. The Bucs secondary ain't all that great. Kirk can sling the ball when he gets on a roll. He's always been able to put up big numbers in a clean pocket and guys are open. Played a good game though so I'm not dismissing that. Just not shocked.

But that said at some point you have to win on the postseason. At the end of the day people don't care if the QB played well or played poorly. They just care if their team won and if they didn't the QB is going to get the blame

Atlanta fans especially don't give a shit. Half the fan base still thinks the Falcons lost the SB in 16 because if Matt Ryan would only played one of the 5 best games ever by a QB in the SB statistically

I mean 500+ is a general mind blow, but it's far less of a one in the case of Cousins.

I mean he's thrown over 400 yards 9 times (including the 509 one) in his career... his highest before this was 460... 49 more yards, eh. Taking his total yards and dividing by games started he's 275 or so (Mahomes for comparison is around 290). Mahomes has never done it but he has about the same number of 400 yard games. Course nobody would be surprised by Pat MERHOLMES because he's football Jesus right now.

That said, Kirk is a fine QB in most things... he can get a little turnover prone and anti-clutch, it's always been his knock. That sad, Pat Mahomes and Kirk are not THAT far off in what they've done. Pat has more TDs, but that's about it... even Pat has said Kirk is the most underrated player in the league. I never get why whiney ass Minny fans complained. Both had great receivers over the years, but KC had the FAR better offensive coach.

I mean I wouldn't say it blows my mind. Now if like Trevor Lawrence or Jalen Hurts did it that'd blow my mind (neither even have a 400 yard game and usually reside in the low 200s). Also, if Lamar Jackson threw for 500+ yards that would blow my mind. His highest is 442, but he's only thrown over 400 yards once and that was it.

Again, your mind being blown by Kirk Cousins throwing 500 yards is the reason Mahomes even said he's the most underrated in the league. Really? It blew your mind Cousins threw for 500 yards? I was shocked so many people were surprised by it. I was sitting there like, "Uh... yah? Makes sense who did it." And Pitts/London are good receivers... Falcons have a decent OL.

It was awesome to see Cousins go off like that. I’m not surprised by it as he can put up big numbers when he’s hot but it is so refreshing to see strong QB play from the Falcons after 2 years of the Mariota/Ridder/Heinicke crap. And it’s nice to have coaches that know what they are doing and that know how to utilize our players instead of dumbfuck bozo Arthur Smith and his weird play calls that went nowhere.
