The problem is...what is it intended to be?

People seem to have different definitions of what an MVP is.

Some think it's the leagues best player. Some think it's the best player on the best team. Some think it's the player who is most valuable to his team.

So, imo, the first thing that needs to happen is they need to come up with a consistent definition.

It's a simple explanation...there is not much joy/spirit when teams are losing. When we were winning 18 of 20 there was plenty of joy/spirit.

Yes he is. Are you ok? Why do I have to take the time to explain to you the concept of legacy in sports? If you want to give this guy his third MVP in 4 years then you better justify this with a huge gap between Jokic and the competition. You can’t do that for any of his three MVPs. One of him he was a damn 6th seed for godsakes! But now his MVP wins place him in rate air he doesn’t belong in.


Are you ready to go the whole way and argue that number of MVPs has no role in assessing a player’s legacy?

The problem is that there's no way to scientifically make the exact right call every year. Some years it's obvious who deserves it. Some years it's what you value vs what someone else does. And sometimes it's just bad luck if you have a MVP level season but other guys do too, or you miss a lot of games, or your team sucks. Steve Nash has 2 MVPs. Kobe has 1. Hakeem has 1. Shaq has 1. We all agree that's bullshit, but that's what happens when only 1 guy gets MVP every year, sometimes weird shit happens. It will happen again and again.

At this point I'd argue the other side of this discussion that I took yesterday. It comes off as white voters gonna bypass precedent to give the white guy the MVP.
