It kind of is though. The 9th and 10th seeds earned those spots over the course of the entire season, not a few games in December.

So they "earned" missing the standard playoff latter by proving inadequate over 82 games, and that's better? Not much different IMO, and only a third of the league is worse than the play-in games. The odds that a tourney winner isn't in the top 20 seeds is pretty low.

the Pistons are being horribly coached at the moment.

It's like herding cats. Who's going to excel coaching the Pistons/Wizards? Larry Brown, so long as practices don't interfere with the early bird special?

Yes, they earned it over the course of the season. Sometimes those play in teams are there because of injuries, etc. And yes, it's better than guaranteeing a team a spot because of a few games in December.

And if chances are they'd be top 20 anyway, we don't need to guarantee them a spot.

So we're out on a potentially slim playoff chance for the champion, but we're in on a permanent upgrade to the roster?

The playoffs are already diminished by the play-in games. That same 34-48 team could very well be the 10th seed, 10 games out of 8th and get into the playoffs already. This is merely an extension of the same concept. Odds are that a team that wins the tourney is in the top 2/3 of the league already anyway and this seeding is moot.

I disagree

How many 7/8 seeds win?

It’s rare enough that it Durant bother me

win 25 games? Dwayne Casey and any number of 500 former and current coaches who aren't actively trying to get their boss fired.

So OKC games vs the Lakers are their finals? Such lofty aspirations...
Hey. I mean beating the team that won this awesome tournament is a big deal

Another potential issue with guaranteeing a playoff spot.

What's to stop a team that won the IST, but doesn't have a realistic shot at a title from tanking the rest of the season so they not only get the extra money from making the playoffs, but also getting a high draft pick?

I was thinking about the final that we just saw and the Pacers.

They're a solid team that is capable of beating anyone in the NBA on a given night but aren't a threat to win the title this season.

Had they beaten the Lakers in the final and were guaranteed a playoff spot...they could tank the rest of the season.

In fact, if I were a Pacers fan, that's exactly what I'd want them to do.

Been sitting in the Minneapolis airport for a couple hours people watching. Have yet to see a single piece of Twolves apparel, nothing. Admittedly I could have missed it on a dude though.

No take backs!

Honestly, Nico Batum is what I wanted Tucker to be but actually is.
Told you he was a Swiss Army knife.

When the trade happened, I was almost as pissed that we got duped out of giving you Nico for PJ and all his washness, as I was about having that sloth bitch on my team.

Almost…lol

Bro, the Clippers struggled to close out the Blazers.

Some unsavory shit, indeed.
At least no apparent Fuckery happened
