Simple Question:
"With Aaron Rodgers under center does this make the Jets a Superbowl Contender?"
"With Aaron Rodgers under center does this make the Jets a Superbowl Contender?"
Absolutely
They were decent with some of the worst qb play this century
I’m bullish
Yeah.. Even with the OL with him behind center it certainly does make them contenders. He does get the ball out fairly quickly. I think Wilson will go off as well with him getting the ball thrown to him
Yeah, I'm just waiting for Becton to strain his uterusThe Jets season is going to depend on if the O Line ends up being a mess. Vera-Tucker their best O lineman is coming off an injury after being outstanding last year at guard and tackle (They were 5-2 or 6-3 when he got hurt in the same game as Hall). Becton is slated to start at right tackle and he's been unable to stay healthy. I'm surprised he got through training camp. Duane Brown will be at the other tackle at 37 years old coming off a shoulder issue and I'm not convinced the center is any good.
They have him listed as a slimmed down 363 pounds. The guy was an absolute beast in his first season before getting hurt, if he becomes that guy again he and Vera-Tucker can anchor a really good line. But I'm not betting on that, Becton's legs just don't seem to hold up. Maybe the rookie out of Pitt Carter Warren can step up and Vera-Tucker can move to tackle if needed.Yeah, I'm just waiting for Becton to strain his uterus
they are till they aren't.
matter of fact till the season starts, only a handful of teams aren't contenders in late August.
no?
Fair enough... But if Wilson was behind center that "confidence" wouldn't be as high as it is now with Rodgers behind center
With the offensive and defensive rookies of the year and a future HOF QB joining the team? Yeah, the hype would probably be pretty close. If anything it's the Jets being so bad for so long and seemingly going all in for the next couple of years that is adding to the hype more then it being a NY team.![]()
By that same token, would the hype be the same if the Jets weren't a "NY" franchise?
Thanks for calling the Pat's a "quality team", much appreciated. We will see what Rodgers is really made of in his time in GB he took advantage of the Vikings, Lions, and Bears not really ever putting together a good team to compete for the division. I mean there were the Lions when they had Stafford, Calvin Johnson and Suh and maybe the Vikings when they had AP and now cousins but for the most part AR would run that division. Now he will be facing some quality teams in the Bills, Dolphins and Patriots.
The Jets have excellent depth on the D-Line and with running backs. The O line has almost no depth and numerous guys coming off injuries which concerns me. Maybe a rookie or 2 show us something there, the kid out of Pitt looks pretty good. They should be fine at receiver except Corey Davis just retired and it might be late to bring in a quality guy. They have good depth at TE. The secondary is solid (starting CB pair might be the best in the league) and has a bit of depth and the LB's are so-so.Jets definitely have frontline talent. To me, what separates the perennial playoff/SB contenders from other teams is depth. Not sure how the Jets stack up depth-wise. Maybe a diehard fan can elaborate. But if they do have this depth, there's no reason they can't seriously compete this year because they definitely have some playmakers on both sides of the ball.

If Hall wasn't coming off knee injury they might not have picked up Dalvin. If they're both healthy they should have one helluva running game. That running back depth had me upset when they signed Dalvin. Killed Abanikanda for my dynasty team this year lol.
