Yeah....the Spartans were decent last season if I remember right and look to be a lot better....as much as I hate y'all USC is a legit top 5 team IMO. And the Spartans hung with them for a minute before the Trojans talent just took over.

Yeah, SJSU was 7-5 last year and played in a bowl game. They returned their QB and their entire o-line.

But yeah, end of the day, they just aren't going to have the talent to keep up.

Gotta hand it to them though, they kept fighting and never conceded the game.

The announcers were trying to compare Zachariah Branch to Reggie Bush last night.

He did well, but folks need to pump the brakes on that.

This isn’t anybody from another country crying.

It is an American track athlete correctly pointing out that American sports leagues are not in fact world championships.

Look up the definition of “world champ” and let me know what you find.
He’s a very media savy young person. He participates in a niche sport and he gets little in the way of cultural attention paid to him. He knows that saying something controversial will grant him 15 minutes in the news cycle.

The NBA is an international league. Among people who work closely to the sport of basketball there’s no question that the NBA is the best professional league in the sport. Declaring the NBA champ World champion is absolutely a legitimate claim.

They been calling it a world championship as long as I can remember. Well before there were international players in the league.

And basketball literally plays world championship tournaments. That is what the FIBA World Cup is. That is the Olympics.

Those teams are All Star teams. Very different from league competition.

lol

Of all the dumb things for people to get bothered about...whether or not some league calls their champion "world champion", is definitely among the dumbest.

I think anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together can figure out that they don't literally mean the world.
And besides that if there were a team in another country that could compete we would see a push for a game between them. Of the major sports soccer is the only one that I would have a problem with but I don’t think anyone is dumb enough to call the MLS winner a world champion. Baseball, basketball and hockey the best players in the world play here so it kind of is a world champion, even though I don’t recall them being called that much. This is nothing.

Of course it is.

It is a true international competition to crown a world champ.

That is the definition of what a “world championship” actually is.

And that is exactly my point.

No league can crown a true world champ.

Only international tournaments can do that.

I’m not the type of person that is overly stringent on the dictionary definitions of words. Language and its context is constantly evolving. Every year the NBA champion legitimately lays claim to being the best basketball team in the world. They’re the champion of the best league in the world. That’s why it’s a legitimate claim to proclaim the NBA champ world champ every year.

You’re wrong. Make an argument that says any other basketball club out there is better than the Denver Nuggets this year.

Yeah, they got Oregon State next and that could be a winnable game since they have them at home. Maybe.

But, after that? Looking at their schedule......SJSU could win 9 or so games, depending on if they can upset OSU because they will be favored......they have to play Boise, AF, SDSU, and Fresno but I can see them splitting those 4 games. Especially since the only road game is at Boise.

If UNLV could ever nail their coaching hire......the Rebels could be a decent team.

That's not a bad location.

There isn’t a better club than the Denver Nuggets. They are the champs of the best league.

That isn’t the point.

They can call themselves the best club in the world if it makes them feel good.

The world champ is being crowned in a couple weeks. And it will be the winning national team.

Yep imagine telling the Chiefs they're not the best football team in the world after winning because they didnt beat other football teams outside of the states

Nice job by the Browns D to keep it to 3 after the turnover...
Hard to get any kind of a read....sure, the starting D looked great but were playing all backups. Starting O looked OK, but also against backups.

Sucks what happened to Grant. Just awful.

I've seen the suggestion to put him on practice squad and have a vet work with him

I like that idea
Guessing they don't want to get rid of him too early as these guys have seen done with Joseph, McLaughlan and even Carlson (Stefanski was in MN when they let him go, I believe).

But there have been some good kicker battles in camps and my guess is they pick up the loser of a close competition. Have to think York could make it through waivers.....though maybe not as maybe a team that does knows they are not going anywhere takes a chance on him?

Yeah I didn’t even mention football because it’s so obvious. The term Super Bowl winner says it all.

Nobody else plays football.

Why isn’t Super Bowl champ title enough?
