A childhood friend lost his life in a motorcycle accident years ago, simply lost control on a curve. I hadn't seen him in at least a decade at that point but it was still a jolt.

The guy was doing wheelie on an off ramp and lost control, under a semi and my dad was on the other side and rolled over the guy.

It was in Cali. And mom told me the story. I hear tid bits here and there about it. My dad actually left my mom and us kids for a bit because of it. Years later I found out as I was a kid and dad traveled for work a lot so I was oblivious.

Honestly, that’s pretty disgusting. The way we fund education in America is whacked. I would bet that some 30-40 miles from this school there are school districts that are in serious need of real maintenance to their physical plant or who are using outdated text books and the like but don’t have the financial resources to adequately fund it. And here we are looking at this kind of investment into a high school stadium. Crazy to me.

I don’t want to turn this into the politics forum so this will be my last comment on this.

No need to waste it on some shit area.

School funding isn't local enough. The decision-making isn't local enough. Parents do not have enough say, and the last time the federal government got involved they fucked it all up even worse. Harrisburg doesn't know shit about the needs of each community either. You know who does? The people in those communities.

There is a lot more to say on the subject, but this is politics so we'll end it here. They are fucking up good schools all over the country with shit ideas from shit people that don't live anywhere near the schools they are fucking up.
