I've got to give credit to Howie Rose of the Islanders. Last year when he said "Is it baseball season yet." Only a month or two into the season while on the air was EPIC!!

i'm with boss.. what makes the broadcasters good ones in my book is when they tell the story like it is.. if their team gets away with something, make note, if the other team got screwed somehow, make note

give an honest opinion of what's going on, not just what you think the local fans want to hear

doc - this may be because he calls a lot of the playoff games, but IMO games are more exciting when doc is announcing.. he really gets in to it and revs up when the game is exciting and i think his style of calling games makes them more entertaining.. sometimes you get guys on there that dont really put a lot of passion in to it and the game doesnt reach out and grab you

beninati - i loathe laughlin, but for as much as i loathe laughlin, i really like joe b... it may just be because he's not afraid to make fun of laughlin being an idiot, but for whatever reason, i like his calls

i dont really have a dislike for many play by play guys.. i watched a lot of out of town streams while i was at school so i got a lot of everyone elses announcers, and for the most part, i liked them all. pxp guys really dont have the opportunity to be complete homers, unlike color guys who i frequently have problems with.. laughlin, errey, and mcguire are my top 3 hated guysl

The Shorthouse experience is quite good; but unfortunately, it has to be completely marred by that over the top homer -- John Garret.

Bob Cole was great back in the day but should have retired ten years ago.

The Islanders had Billy Jaffe as their color anylyst. He told it like it was. Chuck didn't like hearing it very much. So even though MSG had an agreement on an extension in place with Jaffe, Chuck nixed the deal.
