10-12?

in todays NBA nobidies get 10-12........Ill guarantee he gets at least 15 a year- and would not be surprised a bit if its 20....shooting is always at a premium.

I'll guarantee he gets the equivalent of the MLE in years 1 and 2, since the Arenas provision limits the first two years of the contract to that.

I agree that Rui and Reaves will be back- which is why I dont understand these people talking about Trae and Kyrie. Rui will be around 10M at least, and Reaves between 15- probably closer to 20.

Thats it for space- and thats letting Russell go.

There best chance is get something is to sign and trade Russell and attach picks to him to make it better- but like you said- prob. leads to a hard cap.

Do you want Russell re-signed? Its a tough choice- because if they let him go- its not like it opens up cap room for someone else.

Russell will be re-signed, barring some abrupt shift in direction by someone very intriguing becoming available and interested.

Trae is under contract, so that would have to be a S&T situation where Atlanta wanted Russell, which seems far-fetched.

Kryie is being talked about because he's the first word out of Windhorst's mouth every time it opens. If Kyrie wants the MLE, THEN he's an option.

For either, it likely requires Dallas or Atlanta to want to do a S&T for Russell, unlikely. Especially since trading for Kyrie would also be a S&T on Dallas' side, hard-capping the Lakers. All are point guards, so what does the comment about Lebron's fit mean anyway? Russell was the best from 3 out of those 3 last year anyway, if the focus is on playing off the ball.

I know. But there is a spending limit. There has to be.

Right now, it's being said that Reaves is probably in the $10-12 million range. I think the Lakers do that in a heartbeat.

But, if someone offers in the $20 million range, which has been mentioned, it becomes a lot more problematic.

Sounds like 4/100 is it out of the realm of impossibility

Kyrie is likely leaving money on the table to join LA

But Dallas may take it, they cannot let him walk for nothing.

It would almost certainly mean they’d be trading luka in the next 2 years as well.

FIFTY. MILLION. DOLLARS.

Billionaires don't get there by throwing money in the crapper.
Could he leave for a year to gain his freedom to play with his son?

Absolutely.

It’s actually a smart plan to ensure the possibility.

Even if it’s a dogshit team, they would benefit from having a historically top 3 player OF ALL TIME there to mentor the youngsters.

Will he actually retire?

Fuck no.

Also: Whose to say it’s a forgone conclusion that Bronny is 1 and done?

that is the widespread belief.

2024 is also, right now, a perceived weak class.

Curious to see if Lebron is jus gonna take the hair cut to play with Bronny. It has been the talk for a while.

But man....that is a lot of money to walk away from lol

Exactly. From what I have read and heard, he has definitely improved to the point where most seem to think he can get to the NBA, but I haven't seen anyone claim that he's a 1 and done level player.

Lots of articles stating James is pressuring the Lakers to get Kyrie (head-case dude). I would venture a guess that James' talk of a potential retirement may be perceived as part of the pressure package. If I was Pelinka, I would encourage James to take a year off and then come back to play with Brony somewhere else.

It shouldn't be, but he can learn in the NBA/G-League as much as he can at USC. That perceived link with bringing Lebron too will get him drafted, likely in the first round, quite possibly in the lottery (especially if it's a weak class and the team has the necessary cap space). If Lebron isn't broken by then of course, but that doesn't seem likely at his current trajectory unless for some currently unknown reason he does retire.
