Simple question, are you firing RR if he wins a playoff game? What is there to evaluate if he achieves something (winning a playoff game) that this franchise hasn't done in years. I can see taking his GM duties away but not firing him if he wins a playoff game. Just my opinion.

I already stated this answer. If he squeaks into the playoffs, he is fired.

If he wins a game after sneaking into the playoffs, it depends. Why did we win? Was it a fluke or were we on an 8 game win streak where SH was dominant?

If you strip him of GM duties, you fire him…period.

That is not your opinion. That is what you would do. There is a huge difference.

didn't question if we squeak in the playoffs. I know your stance on that. Maybe Harris wants to put a new GM in there but keep RR as the coach b/c of the playoff win. It's possible. If we have a season like the 2022 Giants and beat a 13-win team in the playoffs, what is there to evaluate?

I gave you my opinion, I think RR is safe if he makes the playoffs. I'm curious on why you need to evaluate after winning a playoff game. Even if it was a lucky win. He still won a playoff game.

If Harris puts a new GM in, he is demoting RR, which essentially neuters his leadership position in the locker room.

You definitely fire RR if we beat an overrated 13 win team and then lose to Philthy 38-7. Philthy showed what kind of team the NYG really are And that they had no business being in the playoffs.

So even a playoff win for you doesn't keep RR here for 2024. why woudl the blowout in the 2nd round matter? Philly represented the NFC in the Super Bowl.

Why would it? The NYG scenario is a disaster.

If RR we’re to squeak into the playoffs at 9-7-1, leading the team to five straight wins to end the season, then beating a legitimate 13 win team in the playoffs, and THEN give the Philthy Eagles a real game where it is 24-23 and either team could have won, then I would keep him. It means we improved dramatically as the season progressed and were competitive against one of the top two teams in the NFL.

ok, but getting into the playoffs alone is an improvement for this team. Winning a playoff game is an even bigger improvement. He is still under contract, so there is no need to make a move. Let him stay for 2024 and see how the team does. Let see if they can improve on that playoff win. I find it hard to believe that players in that locker room would want him fired after making the playoffs or a playoff win.

Getting to the playoffs is not getting better. It is simply the product of circumstance.

Winning a playoff game is still based on circumstance.

You may be fine living in mediocrity but people who just spent 6 billion dollars won’t.

Well, you have to get to the playoffs first before you can win a Super Bowl.

Almost half the league now makes the playoffs. It is not the franchise marker it used to be. However, it can be a misleading indicator as well. In 2020, due to circumstance as gkekoa was mentioning, the commanders made the playoffs simply because they stayed the healthiest and the eagles tanked in the final game.

Again, praying to sneak in the playoffs is just insane. I don't understand that mentality and never have. We should aim to make the playoffs and do damage, not take a victory lap because we made it. I want to beat the best at full strength, not have players stay injured or suspended so we have a better outcome.

Why would Harris and magic simply stick with Rivera if his production as a whole helped contribute to one of the reasons the team was for sale? Rivera is not responsible for the team being sold...that is on snyder. However Rivera bears responsibility for helping oversee the crappy name change, terrible front office decisions, and the team not having a winning record since he came here. That did in fact help to the teams overall decline.

The days of We Want Dallas are over!

I loved hearing about how good

Jim Kelly and Thurmond Thomas were and how they would kill our defense

And

How good Elway was and how doug williams would crack under pressure.

The Skins took it personally and put a beat down on them both.

Call me old school but I want to win and beat the best while doing it. Apparently, that is not how some feel.

I want to go back to division winners and 1 wild card only. No need to make it like the NHL and NBA where half the league literally makes it.

harris fired doc rivers after winning a playoff series , i would say RR keeps his job if he gets 12 wins and reaches the NFC championship game . i dont think winning a wild card game gets it done

harris' history suggests he will make sweeping changes and put his guys in . do you think magic is going with status quo ? i dont so you will need a really big year . can it happen ? sure if EB gets SH to light up the scoreboard . if the defense plays up to its press clippings , if we are relatively healthy .

a pussified playoff appearance with 9 mediocre wins speaks to settling for mundane

RR has to show he can build , coach and lead a team to being a yearly contender and compete for super bowls . his history is he is a sub 500 HC

i am an radiation protection tech as my profession . i am there to make money quickly and safely and work at plants i like being at . being mundane and mediocre means i work at low paying shithole plants

if you dont strive to be the best and settle for avg then you have no business being an owner of a pro team

dont accept status quo

And we have a winner folks...

Thankfully, harris and magic know talent and will not tolerate mediocrity.

I am confused by the loyalty to the coaches rhetoric that has cropped up again.

Well if RR wins a playoff game, he would be the only coach of ours to do this in last 18 years. That has to count for something. I dont know what Harris will do. Maybe if the offense does well, he would want to promote EB ASAP. Thats possible. I still believe he is safe making the playoffs. Then he gets his last year of his contract to try to advance the team into a serious contender. If not, Harris won't renew his contract and move on.

Its Superbowl or Bust for RR. Wow.

He's brought that on himself with roster moves or lack there of. Its deeper than high character and holding your head high despite a despicable owner. Production and improvement need to be visible. There is no stability on the field. Besides, if I'm the new owner of a beloved franchise, Rivera never ever ever enters my mind as a head coach hire. Perhaps, some other title but not head coach
