I have question Garland for years now. Efficiency, stats, even eye test is there but in pressure situations the guy seems to dwindle. I’ve seen him disappear ot struggle in late game situations…I don’t know the stats behind my claim, all eye test. So this isn’t a dig on Garland, just sayin if the Cavs are going to be a contender for years to come it comes down to Mobley but Garland plays a huge part in that. Only 23 but the guy just doesn’t step up in big moments. Can that change? We wait and see. 2 out of 3 games in his first playoff series plays possibly his worst game of the year in game 3 and game one he has 1 assist and 5 To’s
Way too early for this talk. It’s why I said all year Cavs can only learn not lose. Playoffs are different and this is his first taste. What he needs to do better and Bickerstaff needs to help him with, is getting to his spots. I don’t think he’s been doing that. Knicks have taken those away. Guys don’t become great until the playoffs teach them what’s exploitable and then they get in the lab over the summer and work on it.

Good insight...

Yeah, the greats don't shine until the pressure's on. Nothing quite like the playoffs to separate the men from the boys...

(Cliche moment done)...:D

When he gets to his spot and has confidence he is unstoppable at times, that happened in game 2. The thing in game 3 is he started off getting open looks and was bricking everything but the open looks were created by others. So maybe he needs to be more aggressive to give himself confidence. I will say that was the worst I have ever seen him play since his rookie year

Does he disappear as in, he avoids the ball so he doesn't have to shoot...or as in, he misses more. so his efficiency suffers.

If it's the latter, you live with it because he's showing that he wants the ball and isn't afraid of the moment. He'll likely get better as he gains experience.

If it's the former, that could be a problem.

Sometimes both but last game he missed open shots and he just didn’t look comfortable then forcing shots. The last game was an outlier bc it was so bad. Idk it seems like nerves in big spots, that feeling never goes away I can tell you that

If he's willing to shoot, you can work on the rest and there will likely also be improvement just from experience alone.

I remember seeing Kobe airball those 2 shots in the playoffs his rookie or 2nd year and thinking...

"This kid is on a team full of veterans and he has the balls to take those shots...he's gonna be alright". lol

The series just outlines the weaknesses I have seen all season. Inconsistent offense, flows in spurts, only 3 guys can create their own shot, inconsistent shooting…got a lot of work to do in the offseason

Cavs still have the "big eyes" (as my high school coach used to say) going on .

Hopefully they can calm down a bit at halftime.
