God just once read a contract , just once . He is being benched for the contract which becomes fully guaranteed if he plays the next 2 games . . The only way a team is on the hook for his bloated salary is if they claim him on waivers for non guaranteed money or trade for him for non guaranteed money

I would trust Howell with a few added pieces like (2) new OL, (1) new LB & (1) new corner. As the chips fall currently, only Howell is the unknown and Wentz and TH can be discarded for next years plan for the starting QB position.

I fully expect Wentz or some other vet to be QB1 week 1 unless someone falls into their lap in round one.

The reason, at least imo, the Raiders are siting Carr is because that's the only way they'd be on the hook and have to pay him 17,400,00 this year. If he doesn't get injured they can cut him n he'll only be owed 5 million. They could then re-sign him or try to or trade him. The possible hitch in that plan is Carr has a full no-trade clause in his contract giving him veto power on any and all trades if he so chooses to use it.

And it appears Carr has left Raiders camp. Yeah, I think a re-signing is out of the question. I don't know his monmetary situation, but he should tell the Raiders I'll veto any trade you attempt and demand his full n unconditoional release.

I think it's a near-certainty they cut Carr. If they don't they're on the hook for $33M, which is probably more than he's worth. So he'll be available.

Hard for me to get excited about the Commanders with such chaos at the top, though. If a sale goes through this off-season, you get an owner who cares and invests in the front office and the current regime is booted, then there's reason for optimism.
