LOL Good fit for the football team - bad fit for the academic institution. Going to be wild. IMO - it's a done deal contingent on CU changing their transfer rules - which are a handicap under current transfer protocols. If he wins no one will complain.

CU is on life support. Deion hire means they have to change transfer rules. He would bring Nat'l attention to Boulder excitement energy. Only thing will he stay long enough to add life back. I hope it happens soo much.

Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders may eventually be an NFL head coach. Along the way, he apparently will be the head coach at the University of Colorado.

Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports that Sanders is preparing to accept the head-coaching job at Colorado.

According to the report, multiple sources say that “Sanders and his associates have spent the week making calls to both potential members of the on-field coaching staff and support staff positions to join him in Boulder.”

At the school, there’s a “widespread expectation” he’ll accept the job this weekend.

“They’re not doing a great job of hiding this,” an unnamed staff source told Thamel. “If he backs out of this deal, it would be a huge problem for Colorado.”

Cincinnati was also believed to be in the mix for Sanders, who has coached Jackson State for three years. He has a record of 26-5 there, including 11-0 this season. Jackson State faces Southern for the SWAC title on Saturday.

At some point after the game, it looks like Sanders will be hitting the road, for good

I didn’t realize Sanders is coaching an undefeated season @ JS. Will be interesting to see if that mojo takes hold at his next stop.

Really enjoying watching college football this year. Not something I’ve done in the past. As a Broncos fan I’m starved for good football.

Is it just my perception, or is he a legit HC? Ive often wondered if he relies on his name to get recruits, and his staff are all ex NFL coaches or players right?

I guess if he's legit it'll be interesting to watch.

I'm also interested in seeing what happens to JSU and other HBCU's after his "I am SWAC" diatribe with the other coaches. I don't see him exiting gracefully from wrapping himself in the HBCU flag to bring attention to those schools, other than to say he accomplished his goals there.

Nothing against him pursuing a bigger challenge... This should be interesting.

He is different than other HCs, but his staff is a mixture of NFL guys and college guys. His choice for DC is supposed to be the Asst DC at Alabama.

Good hire but I thought Cincy was the better option since Fickel left the program in pretty good shape.

And a homecoming of sorts since he played for the Reds waaaaaaaaaay back when. I hope Colorado is patient because he could be the answer there.
