I wonder if this puts undue pressure on Crawford.

It's not like he's Elvis Andrews....

He's borderline acceptable as a defensive SS, and has an ok bat. Honestly, the only time I see him starting at SS is when there is a lefty.

I agree. He will most likely end up being the Second Baseman once Freddie Sanchez suffers his annual debilitating injury. I was hoping they would just hand the SS job to Crawford with no strings or pressure and see how he responds.

We'd have to dig deep into these boards to find the creator. To be fair, he was serviceable as a backup, but flat out awful as a starter. But at this point, Stewart proved him defense and play calling is better than Eli, while both bats remain atrocious.

And by all reports Chez3 is a more than competent receiver who clearly has a better bat already. The only thing that should keep him in Fresno is a lack of game calling experience. Per Buster's experience, that would take him all of 2 months with Decker to get up to speed.

Unless they don't want him sitting on the bench.

According to Cardfan, Riot is a poor defensive SS. I think Fonty or Manny will be the backup to Craw (Fonty's contract is not guaranteed and Manny is out of options). My January 28 guess: Fonty.

Though Burris is no great shakes defensively, I think he has the edge on Fontenot because he can hit right handed and has more speed. Fontenot has proved to be a competent Major League hitter but they already have quite a few left handed bats.

Perhaps, but Riot is righthanded as well, so Burriss will really be competing with him for a bench spot.

Nolan.....just fucking stop. You have your 49ers forum here. Just stay there and enjoy it. I'm sure there are numerous other Giants boards you can incite with your blather.

Just.....stay.....away.

Last warning, you said you'd stay off this board. You keep fucking around and I'm going to ask Ray_Dogg to ban your Mozart account from the 49er board. Seriously brother, what's your deal?

I sniffed that one out as well, but he seemed to be behaving himself, so I was not going to say anything. Besides, if tz wasn't complaining, no point in anyone else complaining. :)

Btw, I am sure you noticed his announcement on the Niner board that he was going to try this...

You mean this one?

I'll be around, but probably not as much in the off season. I'm also going to try and infiltrate the SF Giants board here from which I've been banned. If Ray Dogg finds out he might ban ol Mozart from here as well. I'll try to stay on the down low.

What a fucking psychopath. He'd be an excellent case study. Wow. Seriously, when you stop to look at it, who lives to irritate people he's never met? Eh, fuck em. I won't even ask Ray to ban him. If the 49er folk like him, so be it. He keeps coming on here and he's toast.

I thought this exactly. Wasn't sure if it was that loser, but it felt like maybe, but he hadn't posted anything Nolan-y yet.

But that doesn't matter to me, he's burned all his bridges, he could behave perfectly and I still wouldn't want him around. He's just seriously creepy.

Must be boring in the Tenderloin these days.

He's a freak no doubt. But the internet is full of crazy fucks like him.

Oh well, nice catch. Rep, so you can finally get some.

Ok - have to ask this question because I just don't really understand - I like Roit and think he was a godd addition to the team. Gives us some good depth. Then I see that Kepp signs with the Rays for 1.5M. I alsways liked Kepp and had thought he did a good job when Freddy was out. How do Roit and Kepp compare as far as being within our organization?

Kepp is a stone defensively. He's a better hitter at this point, but Riot gives the Giants much more flexibility defensively. Kepp was barely passable as a second baseman. Riot can play SS averagely as well as a good 2b (as far as range goes).

I also wonder if the missed plane sealed the deal for him in the org. He played passable, and seemed to be a good dude, but I never was able to fully get that initial bad taste out of my mouth...

Yeah. Obviously, he was indifferent to the whole situation, which is difficult to swallow for a fan. Had the Giants made the playoffs, both sides might have felt a little differently in the off-season. Either way, neither side wanted him in SF, and filo is correct that Riot brings more with the glove, while only sacrificing a little with the bat. Plus, I suppose he'll accept the "platoon-to-tryt-to-keep-Franchez-healthy role" a little bit better than Kepp.

He got banned from the mlb.com board already, and that's really tough to do.
