I'm amazed at what Tavares has done this year. Take nothing away from Moulson, I think he's a terrific player, but imagine what the kid could do with some big time talent around him. DAMN!!

In a lot of ways he reminds me of Spezza. Great hands and vision (he's more of a pure goal scorer though) but just needs to get one more gear on his skating to be truly elite.

Spezza has worked his ass off to be faster and I can tell that Tavares probably has too. He'll get faster and better too.

The sky's the limit for this guy.

I agree with what both of you wrote, hopefully for them and the fan bases you won't end up seeing wonderful talent wasted, like poor Rick Nash in Columbus.

JT's skating has improved leaps & bounds from his rookie year. In the last game against Toronto he went between two Leafs to get the puck & went in alone on a breakaway. That never would have happened last year let alone two years ago. I have no doubts he's going to continue to get better. I just hope his career isn't wasted. Guys like Nino, Strome, Nelson, Cizikas, Kabanov can't develop fast enough. They also better sign Kirill Petrov this offseason.

I can't really speak for Tavares; he's so young that nobody can really. However, Spezza's talents haven't been wasted and don't look like they will be by any stretch. He's been to the finals already and is the leader of an up and coming team right now. At the age of 28 he's done plenty AND has plenty of prospects.

Milpuke later said that if they had the 1st pick the trade never would have happened. Kovalchuk would have been selected & the only trade he would have made was with Buffalo for Peca. For some reason he didn't want Spezza. Maybe he talked to Cherry about him. Cherry has said many times that he tried to get Spezza to shoot the puck more, but he simply wouldn't do it.

All I know is Milpuke traded Chara because the organization felt they couldn't afford him. Yet they paid Yashin 8 million per. I don't understand that logic & never will.
