Can someone educate me on this?

So the NFL offered a deal of a 12 game suspension and a 10 million fine and Watsons camp said no because they could get a better outcome with the judge?

So the Judge issued a 6 game suspension and Watson wants to accept that but the league whom wants to save face with the public is appealing it to increase those suspended games plus fines? Is that what's on the table?
It's all explained in the CBA, and Watson, and his Lawyer knew this.

I guess the Watson and his Lawyer are thebonly two on earth who didn’t think the NFL would do it.

I don't think the case would be about what he did and don't think any evidence would be discussed. It would only be about the process and the NFL extending his suspension beyond what a mutually agreed upon hearing officer decided. I still say it will not go that route. Not only will the NFLPA lose but combined with the monetary impact on Watson it just isn't happening unless he gets an indefinite or lifetime ban and I don't think that happens. I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what possible legal argument the NFLPA can make if Goodell follows all of the rules of the CBA and have that argument be strong enough to risk Watson losing an additional $45M if it doesn't go their way.

If you stop thinking about the NFL as the NFL and instead think of them as any other company you can have a contract clear as day but if you're not managing the employees within the text of that contract or within the spirit of it thats the challenge.

More than a few have pointed how arbitrary his decisions are.

Further when you hold your players to a conduct policy for image reasons and yet allow your owners to do the same thing with no recourse......well it's a problem

Everything there is a fact except the "save face" part and fines, which is just speculation. (I mean, it's all about the public anyway. The public is their customers. I really do think the league wanted indefinite with a one-season minimum the whole time.)

The bigger picture is the NFL and their free reign of a competition free business and how they are treated by congress. You get those bleeding heart liberals against them and you can start kissing their billions of profits away. Its the same reason MLB has strict policies.
I really dont know how the NFL even approved the trade to Cleveland.

Most everyone I know that goes to a massage parlor does so to get a massage, family members, co workers ect. I don't know a single soul who goes to a massage parlor for sex. I sure their are some whore houses who use massage parlor as a cover, but try randomly picking out a massage parlor, make an appointment, show up ask for a blowjob and see what happens .....
Not gonna take you up on that but my guess is they'd say no, ask me to leave and that would be the end of it.

To be fair I'd like to see what the exact verbiage is. Because I highly doubt it says he can do whatever he wants.

They established a 6 game protocol for non violent offenders as an example.

ESPN's Jeff Darlington reports the NFL "is appealing for an indefinite suspension that would be a minimum of one year" for Deshaun Watson.

The MMQB's Albert Breer added that the NFL "positions Watson’s behavior as the most egregious it’s ever seen" in their brief for the appeal. Watson was initially given a six-game suspension. With his base salary set at just $690K, the loss of game checks means next to nothing when compared to the $240 million contract extension he signed with the Browns. For this reason, the NFL is also considering adding a fine to Watson's punishment. The CBA gives commissioner Roger Goodell the power to hear the appeal and change the length of the suspension. He can also designate someone else to hear the appeal. Multiple reports have indicated that the NFLPA will sue the league if Watson is suspended for a season. Things will only get messier if this back-and-forth is taken to court.
Keep seeing this but what does it really even mean they are appealing for a year? They make the decision so are they simply saying it's now a year (or indefinite)?

was there something in the CBA that said teams had to bring in and sign Kaepernick? Pretty sure he was able to win a few bucks from the NFL.

Precedent is precedent. You can’t set the fine at $10 M because Watson is getting $230M. The next guy may not be getting that. That is why most fines are a joke to a lot of these guys, because they need to be the same for everyone.
That's true, but if it's $10 mil that would likely be because that was his salary last season. The next guy might be his season's salary but could be a lot less (or more)?

considering they offered Watson 12 games and significant fine before Sue made her decision these “reports” don’t make sense but remember we heard for months the NFL wanted and tried to get an indefinite or year long suspension. It’s nothing more than wanting the public to believe they did all they could, problem lies with the CBA and how the NFL acted on past incidents. I see significant changes after this Watson situation. This will wake the NFL up to be more like MLB policies. The fact they are just realizing this is sad though

I hate to compare the 2 professions because it's highly unfair to massage therapists but I'd suspect the places James Harden frequents have more than a few occurrences as such.

In fact I'd suspect James himself has made quite a few advances like that.

No need to welcome me back. I'm just tired of responding to your stupid posts. Sometimes I can't help myself.
"sometimes"? You clearly lack self control and are a compulsive liar....which makes you free comic relief.
