My thoughts are that the NFL has a slew of top notch in house lawyers , who no doubt help form the CBA to be bullet proof ( I’m sure the NFLPA did the same). The NFLPA suing isn’t going to worry the NFL who have their lawyers prepped and ready, those lawyers get paid so making them work is finally getting a bit of bang for their money. Should be a slam dunk for the NFL. Since Watson and the NFLPA turned their nose up at the NFL compromise of 12 games, now the NFL goes for what they asked for( indefinite suspension of at least a year) treatment and probation of sorts if he is ever allowed to play again. It’s a chance to set the tone for upcoming cases like Kamara case for example. Also makes a statement of caring about protecting women. No reason for the NFL to go lightly at this point.
Big difference between Kamara and Watson. Watson should warrant more.

Kamara 6-8.

I think a lot of you are under estimating Goodell.
If he offered 12 game suspension & a fine. That got snubbed at.

Now the suspension will definitely go much higher than 12 games & the fine will go higher as well.
Also Goodell will give no fucks about going to court. NFLPA cant win that. Only delay the inevitable.
The NFL wouldnt have appealed if they didnt plan on going to court. Or Was worried about it.

The NFLPA/Watson’s team should propose a deal to the appeal which is 7 games + the Houston game + significant fine and treatment.

So essentially 8 games, a big fine and he goes to treatment. They dont want this going to court, Watson
Corrected for you.

Watson shouldn't want this to go to court if he was smart, but Watson has played his cards wrong since this mess started, so that wouldn't surprise me. Why would you think the NFL doesn't want to go to court, not only will they win but they have a lot more people in their corner than Watson, who want a longer than 6 game suspension. This hurts Watson a lot more than it could hurt the NFL. He just seems like a real moron, he must not care about his image.

I would be waiting for something to come out in court in the NFL's investigation to where the DA's Office goes.
Wait. What? We didnt know about that fact. Now lets go to criminal trial.
I would think Watson would want nothing to do with going to any court.

I thought it was especially stupid Watson didn't admit he got an erection.

Shit happens when a chick is rubbing you. The whole towel thing was the problem.
Watson seems to be an incredibly stupid person, consistently making incredibly stupid decisions. Everyone involved absolutely knew without the shadow of a doubt that as soon as he tried to play he was going to be suspended. The dumb MFer should have made the Texans and/or league suspend him last year. Because he didn't press the issue he wasted a whole year for nothing. I obviously don't know how his contract was structured or the language used, but if the Texans had suspended him he might have potentially had a case where they would have had to pay some or all of the bonuses he was due. Instead he made the base salary of 10 million on a contract that was like 30+ million a year. If the league had already suspended him, even if they gave him a full year long suspension, he'd still be able to play today.

Just none of the stuff he's doing makes sense. Hell, I'm not a good judge of whether a man is good looking or not, but I'm still willing to bet that if a professional QB with his level of fame, his level of wealth, and his level of sheer physical fitness just posted on Twitter with his address and a time and then stated he wanted a massage and a happy ending; I'm willing to bet there would have been women lined up to do it for free. The massage might not have been that great, but he definitely would have gotten women to touch his weenie. Way more than 66 in 17 months. And way less lawsuits too.

This issue the NFLPA would raise is more about procedure and consistency than what Watson did or didn't do. The single biggest reason companies lose unemployment cases and EEO type complaints is that they cannot establish a consistent way of handling their employees.

Lol

You honestly think after like 19 months something happened that wasn't discussed? There is a zero point zero percent chance of that.

I'd guess the biggest reason he didn't settle right away was that he had sought out so many different women for massages. It's truly inexplicable as to why he thought it was a good idea. And yes his level of remorse has been virtually non existent. I get he feels he never pushed himself on women once the word no entered the equation but it is really fucking weird to use massages in this fashion. Just acknowledging his judgements on seeking so many different women and putting his trust in his livelihood at risk in such a great way is worthy of a "I could've handled that better"

Watson and the nflpa threatening the nfl about appealing, made the chances of an appeal more likely to happen

Can someone educate me on this?

So the NFL offered a deal of a 12 game suspension and a 10 million fine and Watsons camp said no because they could get a better outcome with the judge?

So the Judge issued a 6 game suspension and Watson wants to accept that but the league whom wants to save face with the public is appealing it to increase those suspended games plus fines? Is that what's on the table?

I don't think the case would be about what he did and don't think any evidence would be discussed. It would only be about the process and the NFL extending his suspension beyond what a mutually agreed upon hearing officer decided. I still say it will not go that route. Not only will the NFLPA lose but combined with the monetary impact on Watson it just isn't happening unless he gets an indefinite or lifetime ban and I don't think that happens. I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what possible legal argument the NFLPA can make if Goodell follows all of the rules of the CBA and have that argument be strong enough to risk Watson losing an additional $45M if it doesn't go their way.

Looks like Goodell wants a year but definitely at least 12 since week 12 the Browns plays the Texans.
Why do the Texans matter? That would be the only game I would allow him to play during the season so Watson can beat the Texans ass for permitting and helping assist in this issue. I would suspend him for 16 games with the only game he is allowed to play is against the Texans. haha
